Aja Nicole Maurer

Aja Maurer, 34 year old resident of Rice, MN, formerly of Little Falls, MN, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN with Bob Mueller officiating. A visitation will be held from 4-7 P.M. on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Aja was born on July 22, 1983 in Little Falls, MN to Debra Pearson and Peter Maurer. She grew up in Little Falls, MN where she attended school and graduated from Little Falls Community High School with the Class of 2001. Aja began working at Subway as a Sandwich Artist at the age of 17 and worked her way up within the company managing stores and most recently achieved her dream of purchasing her own Subway store in August of 2017 in Randall, MN along with the ice cream store in Randall “The Dipper”. She was currently enrolled at the University of Minnesota where she was almost finished with her degree in Business Management. In her free time, she enjoyed collecting and learning about rocks. She loved their natural beauty as well as the healing powers of certain rocks. Aja was an avid reader, movie goer, Pokemon hunter and loved listening to music and dancing with her many friends. She will forever be remembered by her loving family as the rock and glue of the family. She brought so much sparkle to their lives. Aja’s greatest love was her 5 nephews; she loved them as if they were her own children. Aja is survived by mother, Debra Siegel of Little Falls, MN; dad, Fred Siegel of Randall, MN; sisters, Kacey (Tim) Stai of Little Falls, MN, Kelsey (Jason) Erdmann of Rice, MN, and Laura (Adam) Walen of Virginia Beach, VA; grandparents, Bud Siegel of Randall, MN, Bud and Joanne Pearson of Little Falls, MN and Caroline Maurer of Little Falls, MN; step-dad, Brett Nelson of Little Falls, MN; nephews, Oskar, Leon, Cassidy, Izaiah, and Leander; God-daughter, Jillian Strom; honorary-sisters, Jenny and Ashley Strom; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and honorary family members. Aja was preceded in death by her father, Peter Maurer; grandfather, Edward Maurer; grandmother, Janet Siegel; aunt and uncle, Tom and Karen Siegel and Nana and Papa Jim. In Lieu of Flowers Memorials are Preferred in Aja’s honor.
