Alfred R. Posterick

Alfred R. Posterick, age 89 of Randall, MN, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at St. Otto's Care Center in Little Falls, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Swanville, MN with Father Ron Dockendorf officiating. Burial will take place in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls, MN. A visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. on Wednesday and from 10-11 A.M. on Thursday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Swanville, MN. Alfred was born on April 2, 1927 in Benton County to the late John and Margaret (Kalis) Posterick. He grew up on the family farm east of Royalton in Benton County. At a very young age Alfred went to work in the grain fields of North Dakota and also worked for the Rail Road in St. Paul, MN. In search of a better paying job, Alfred and his brother-in-law decided to travel to Michigan for employment in the auto industry. In 1950, while employed at Kaiser-Frazer Motor Company, Alfred was drafted into the U.S Army and served in the Korean War until 1952. After his honorable discharge, he was united in marriage to Theresa Hlad at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg, MN on November 5, 1952. The couple then moved to Flint, Michigan for a few years after they were married while Alfred was again employed at Kaiser-Frazer Motor Company. They later returned to Culdrum Township in Morrison County where they began farming and raising their children. Along with farming, Alfred also was employed at the West Side Creamery in Little Falls, MN. He truly loved to farm the land and take care of his animals. When Alfred was not farming, he enjoyed going fishing in South Dakota, traveling a bit and was always tinkering and building things. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Swanville, MN. Alfred was dearly loved by many and will be greatly missed. Alfred is survived by children, Darwin (Janelle) Posterick of Randall, MN, Lyle Posterick of Little Falls, MN, Curt (Linda) Posterick of Little Falls, MN, and Audrey (Joe) Kuchinski of Swanville, MN; brother, Alois (Elaine) Posterick of Sartell, MN; sister, Shirley (Bill) Bassett of Brainerd, MN; grandchildren, Melissa (Wade) Smieja, Aimmee (Matt) Yorek, Bradley Posterick, Lindsey Posterick, Kyle (Sarah) Posterick, Adam Posterick, Chyanne Posterick, Curtis (Nicole) Posterick, Mitchel Posterick, and Shania Kuchinski; and 8 great-grandchildren. Alfred was preceded in death parents, John and Margaret Posterick; wife, Theresa Posterick; sisters, Valery Gruber, Burt Halama, Betty Lou Sykes and two infant sisters; and brothers, George Posterick, Lawrence Posterick, and Jack Posterick Jr.
