Anthony Wozniak

Anthony (Tony) E. Wozniak, 89 year old resident of Little Falls, MN passed away Friday, August 17, 2007 at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls, MN after a long battle with cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, August 23, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN with Father Nicholas Landsberger officiating. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls, MN. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M on Wednesday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN and from 10 to 11 A.M. on Thursday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Anthony Wozniak was born on April 21, 1918 in Pike Creek Township to the late Peter and Pauline (Kowalzek) Wozniak. He grew up on the family farm outside of Sobieski, MN where he went to school. As a youth Tony loved to engage in all sports for entertainment. After leaving home he joined the Civilian Conservation Corp. Then he joined the Army Air Force and served in Central Burma, India, and China as a surgical technician. Following his time served during World War II, Tony worked in North Dakota on the Williston Dam. He was a carpenter and maintenance employee for the St. Frances Campus, St. Gabriel’s Hospital and St. Otto’s where he worked for 37 years. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Post #46. Also Tony was a member of Honor Guard for many years and a Life Member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a all around handyman of the neighborhood and others in need of a handy man. Tony was also a very avid card player as well as a pool player. He was very passionate and loved the great outdoors, including fishing, & hunting. Many of his greatest adventure were outdoors. Whether it was during his camping trips hanging out with a family of friendly raccoons or fishing on the Mississippi with the fish literally jumping into the boat. A great bowler and proud of the trophies that sit upon his dresser. A man of many talents, like gardening, cooking, and wine making. He also loved watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings on television. Other wise the television would be tuned to CMT where he would tell us about all the pretty country music gals. Anthony was a man who held his family dearest to his heart. As you walk into his home you find it arranged with photos of friends and family. His face would light up each time he spent time with any one of them. In his later years he would take as much time as possible to admire the world from his front yard. Anthony will be missed by many dear friends and family members. Anthony is survived by, sons, Dennis Wozniak of Little Falls, MN, Gordon Wozniak of Little Falls, MN; daughters, Margo Varney of Pierz, MN, and Paulette Wozniak-Johnson & husband, Lon of Fort Ripley, MN; brothers, Richard Wozniak of Duluth, MN, Cyril Wozniak of Woodbury, MN, & Stanley Wozniak of Little Falls, MN; sisters, Loretta Retka of Little Falls, MN, Margaret (Edward) of Minneapolis, MN, Barbara (Egil) Zebel of Saint Paul, MN, & Isabelle Trettel of Bowlus, MN. Preceded in death by wife, Frances Wozniak; daughter, Kathy Frank; parents, Peter & Pauline (Kowalzek) Wozniak; brothers, Daniel, Phillip, Daniel, Joe, & Frank; sisters, Joan, Sophia, Marie, Rita, and Sylvia.
