Armella T. Otremba

Armella T. Otremba, 93 year old resident of Pierz, MN, passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Pierz Villa. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Buckman, MN with Father Kenneth Popp officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Michael’s Parish Cemetery in Buckman, MN. A visitation will be held from 4-8 P.M. on Friday at the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz and from 9:30-10:30 A.M. on Saturday at the church. Christian Mother’s Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 P.M. followed by Parish Prayers at 7 PM on Friday at the funeral chapel. Armella Theresa (Dehler) Otremba was born December 16 1922 to the late John L. and Margaret (Zenner) Dehler in Buckman, MN. She was the 12th child of 14 children. She was raised on a farm in Buckman Township and went to St Michaels Catholic School in Buckman. She worked as a housekeeper in the Twin Cities and talked about her walks around Lake Harriet. She was united in marriage to Herman Otremba on Oct 1, 1946 at St Michael's Catholic Church in Buckman. They settled on a farm South of Buckman where they farmed and raised 12 children, 10 sons and 2 daughters. They lived on this farm until 1976 when they moved to Buckman. Armella loved to go fishing, play cards and travel. Later she played a lot of cribbage and was very good at it. She even taught some of the grandkids to play. At the age of 50 she decided to take on a job and worked in housekeeping at the Pierz Villa. She loved talking to the residents. Armella was a member of the Christian Mothers and the St Michael's Society. Armella's faith and prayer life sustained her throughout her life. She is survived by her children, Ruth (Doug) Maydole of Eden Prairie, Marilyn Petrin of Pierz, Ray (Gail) of Lakeville, Mike (Pat) of Lowry, MN, Mark (Kathy) of Brainerd, Bernard (Sue) of Buckman, Dan (Cheryl) of Sandpoint, ID, Kevin (Cindy) of Harding; Galen (Julie) of Pierz; John (Shelly) of Lakeville; 38 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren; sister, Rita Stumpf; sisters-in-law, Edwina Dehler and Emily Dehler, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman 1995; sons, Ken 1997; and George 2006; son-in-law, Dick Petrin 2013; daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Otremba 2014; granddaughter-in-law, Linda 2011; brothers, Herbert, Edwin, Henry, Alfred, Lawrence and Roman; sisters, Alma Stumpf, Julia Brixius, Sr. Herbert Dehler OSB, Olivia Kelzenberg, Marie Paggen and Margaret Tschida. Pallbearers will be Armella’s Grandchildren: Andy Otremba, David Otremba, Josh Otremba, Erica Bistodeau, Bob Otremba, Dale Otremba, Jolene Nelson, and Joey Otremba.
