Blake L. Hunnel

Blake L. Hunnel, 42 year old resident of Brainerd, MN formerly of Little Falls, MN passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at his home in Brainerd, MN. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, March 20, 2026 at the LeMieur Funeral Home in Little Falls, MN. Burial and military honors will take place in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls, MN. A visitation will be held from 11:00-2:00 P.M. on Friday, March 20, 2026 at the LeMieur Funeral Home in Little Falls, MN. Caring for Blake and his family is the LeMieur Funeral Home in Little Falls, MN. Blake was born on March 3, 1984, in Little Falls, Minnesota, to Stephan and Rebecca (Olesch) Hunnel. He grew up in Little Falls where he attended school and graduated from Little Falls High School with the Class of 2002. Following graduation, Blake enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country as a member of the Minnesota National Guard. During his military service, he completed two tours in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he proudly and faithfully led his Troop as a First Sergeant. He received many awards and accolades for leadership and expertise in the military. Blake attended the Minnesota School of Business where he earned a degree in massage therapy. He was currently employed at ATEK in Brainerd, Minnesota, where he worked as a Global Product Sales Manager. Blake had many interests and hobbies. He enjoyed hunting, was an avid collector of baseball cards and enjoyed working on and racing his drag truck, a 1985 Chevrolet short box that he took great pride in. While Blake had many passions, the role he cherished most in life was being a father. He was incredibly proud of his children and loved them deeply. Blake will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and the pride he took in the things he loved. He is survived by parents, Steve Hunnel and Becky Weiss; children, Henry, Severin, Sierra, Stella, and Poppy; sister, Cari (Dave) Woitalla; grandfathers, Lawrence (Marlene) Olesch and Arthur Hunnel; niece and nephew, Summer and Bo Woitalla; special uncle, Chad Olesch; aunt & godmother, Shelly Boser; cousins, Zachary Olesch (godchild) and Matthew Olesch. Blake was preceded in death by grandmothers, Elsie Hunnel and Lorraine Hiemenz.
