Brian Kalahar

Brian Kalahar 60 year old resident of St. Joseph, MN passed away Friday, October 2, 2015 at his home in St. Joseph, MN surrounded by his family. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Little Falls, MN with Pastor Jean Megorden officiating. Burial will take place in the Darling Cemetery in Little Falls, MN. A visitation will be held from 4-7 P.M. on Tuesday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls and from 11-12 P.M. on Wednesday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Little Falls, MN. Funeral arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Brian was born on October 27, 1954 in Little Falls, MN to Mary (Thelander) Kalahar and the late Veryl Kalahar. He grew up in Little Falls where he attended school, graduating from Little Falls Community High School with the Class of 1972. After graduation he went on to Brainerd Vocational School for auto mechanics. He was united in marriage to Candy (Pater) Vukelich on June 28, 1997 in St. Joseph, MN. Brian was employed at DeZurik Manufacturing in Sartell for 41 years as a machinist. He was a car enthusiast that loved restoring old cars. He completely restored a 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS and his grandfather’s old Farmall tractor. Brian was also very proud of his 1932 Ford coupe that was in mint condition. When he was not working on his own vehicles he loved assisting friends at truck pulls in the pits and he also loved four-wheeling with his wife Candy. Brian will forever be remembered for his contagious sense of humor and his witty one liners. He had a way of always keeping things positive even towards the end when his health was declining. Brian had many friends and everyone he met wanted to be his best friend. He was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by many. Brian is survived by loving wife Candy Kalahar of St. Joseph, MN; mother, Mary Kalahar of Little Falls, MN; daughters, Kristin (Abe) Fischer of Albertville, MN and Tiffany (Andrew Schrupp) Kalahar of Chanhassen, MN; stepson, David (Jen) Vukelich of Elk River, MN; sisters, Lani (Ron) Larson of St. Francis, MN and Sharon (John) Strack of Sauk Rapids, MN; grandchildren, Gabe, Sam, Sawyer, Peja, Will, and Brynnlee; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Brian was preceded in death by father, Veryl Kalahar; grandparents, Hugo & Sonja Thelander and Thomas & Gertrude Kalahar.
