Carl Brezinka

Carl E. Brezinka, 76 year old resident of Sobieski, MN passed away Friday, February 2, 2007 in Bellevue Township. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski, MN with Father Leo Moenkedick officiating. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Flensburg American Legion Post #136. Friends may call from 4-8 PM at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls on Monday, February 5 with parish prayers being held at 6 PM, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Carl was born on July 9, 1930 in Opole, MN to the late John and Johanna (Kostreba) Brezinka. He went to school until the 8th grade, worked with his parents on the farm and some odd jobs until he joined the Army in February of 1952, where he served until January of 1954. The majority of his service time was spent in Alaska. He was united in marriage to Rita Sobiech. Together they had three children; Marvin, Ronald, and Renae. On June 5, 1965, Carl was united in marriage to Romona Birchem. Together the had four children; Charles, Jay, Lee, and Todd. The couple moved to Columbia Heights where they stayed until 1980 when they moved to their current residence, two mile west of Sobieski. Carl was very active in the Sobieski and Flensburg Sportsman Clubs and the Flensburg American Legion Post #136. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, and playing cards. Carl is survived by wife, Romona Brezinka of Sobieski, MN; son, Marvin (Satya) Brezinka of Redwood City, CA and their children, Patricia, Rita, Ashika, Mona Sita, Jen Carl; son, Ronald (Pat) Brezinka of Arden Hills, MN and their daughter, Ashley; daughter, Renae (Jim) Peterschick of Arden Hills, MN and their daughter, Brauntee; son, Charles Brezinka of Sobieski, MN and his daughter, Rachel; son, Jay (Tina) Brezinka of Sobieski, MN and their children, John, Mark, McKayla; son, Lee (Sarah) Brezinka of Andover, MN and their children Ivan, Isabelle; son, Todd Brezinka (partner, Trever Frickey) of Kansas City, MO; 7 brothers; 7 sisters; many brother–in-laws & sister-in-laws; many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rita Sobiech; parents, John & Johanna Brezinka; brothers, Frank, Larry, Dick, Louis; sister, Jo Poitrowski; brother-in-laws, Alfred Czech, Gene Doroff, and Daniel Piotrowski.
