Celia Rauch

Celia P. Rauch, 95 year old resident of Pierz, Minnesota passed away on Friday, February 6th, 2008 at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 10th at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz, MN with Father Gerald Dalseth officiating. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation will from 4 to 8 PM on Monday February 9th, 2009 at The Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz and from 9 to 10 AM on Tuesday at the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz. Christian Mothers Rosary will be said at 4:30 PM and Parish Prayers at 7:30 PM on Monday evening at the funeral chapel. Celia P. Rauch was born on April 22, 1913 in Royalton, Belview Township, Minnesota to the late Edward and Gertrude (Fussy) Barton. Celia grew up in Royalton, MN and graduated from high school in 1931. She attended St. Cloud State University receiving her teaching degree in 1933. Celia taught in District 5A and 5B in Royalton, MN from 1933 until 1941. She was united in marriage to Roman Rauch on June 23, 1942 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton, MN. The couple made their home on a farm in southwest Pierz. Celia continued teaching in Genola, MN District 138 from 1941 to 1948. She then taught at the old St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Pierz, MN and the new Holy Trinity School in Pierz, MN. Celia taught school for 38 years before retiring in 1979. Celia was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz, MN. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, crocheting, flowers and spending time with her family. Celia is survived by her sons, Dennis (Patricia) Rauch of Pierz, MN, Edward Rauch of Mounds View, MN; daughters, Sharon (Max) Gamradt of Wrenshall, MN, Elaine (Gary) Dupont of Bloomington, MN, Carol (James) Morin of Albertville, MN, Diane Laurent of Woodstock, CT, Ilo Rauch of St. Louis Park, MN, and Lois (Gary) Mathiason of Edinburg, ND. 19 Grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and one on the way. Celia was preceded in death by her husband, Roman on August 17th, 2006; parents, Edward and Gertrude (Fussy) Barton; brothers, Virgil, Earl, and Clarence Barton; and sisters, Eleanor Mittelstedt, Irene Schneider, Dorean Barton, and twin sister Loretta Barton. Pallbearers will be her grandsons; Tim Gamradt, Greg Dupont, Chris Rauch, Eric Gamradt, Ken Rauch, Paul Rauch, Randy Rauch, Joel Morin, Andy Morin, Travis Rauch, Kyle Rauch, and Ryan Laurent.
