Charles H. Erbstoesser

Charles H. Erbstoesser, 88-year-old resident of Little Falls, MN, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at his Home in Little Falls. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 23, 2018, at Faith Lutheran Church in Little Falls, MN with Rev. Nate Bjorge officiating. Burial will take place in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls, MN. A visitation will be held from 4-7 P.M. on Sunday, July 22, 2018, at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls and from 10-11 A.M. on Monday at Faith Lutheran Church in Little Falls, MN. Military Rites will be conducted by the Little Falls American Legion Post #46. Charles was born on March 12, 1930, in Isanti County to Elizabeth and Gunther Erbstoesser. He attended elementary and high school in Braham, MN. He graduated from Braham High School in 1949— (he was always very proud of the Braham Bombers!). Charles was enlisted in the Army from 1950-53. He attended Augsburg College in Minneapolis from 1954-1955. He married Janet LaVonne Peterson on May 7th, 1955 at Siloa Lutheran Church in Braham. Charles worked at Braham’s West Man Silo, McFarlene’s Sheet Metal, and REA. He was employed at Swift Company in Saint Paul and Lite Rite in Melrose. In 1956, Charles began working at Northwestern Bell until his retirement in 1985. While working for Northwestern Bell he held the positions of Lineman, Cable Splicer, EQ Man, Combination Man, Cable Foreman, Service Supervisor and Regional Manager. Charles served as President of the Little Falls Kiwanis Club in 1979 and Kiwanian Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota and North and South Dakota in 1987-88. He served as Board Chair of Bethel Lutheran Church in 1976 and President of the Little Falls Chamber of Commerce in 1979. Charles was also the first President of the Little Falls Hockey Association –1973-1975. He volunteered at Saint Gabriel’s Hospital as a courier and delivered meals on wheels. In his spare time Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching sports and Fox News as well as spending time with his family. He was a proud member of Faith Lutheran Church. Charles is survived by his four children, Terri Erbstoesser, Little Falls; Toni Backes (Bryan), Sauk Rapids; Ron Erbstoesser (Susan), Houston, Texas; and Brian Erbstoesser, Omaha, Nebraska. Four grandchildren, Allison, Kelsey, Christopher and Rachel; and 8 great-grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Janet; his parents; 3 sisters; 2 brothers; 3 nephews and 4 nieces.
