Christopher "Chris" Kalahar

Christopher ‘Chris’ Kalahar, a 34-year-old resident of Fergus Falls, MN formerly of Little Falls, MN passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at his home in Fergus Falls, MN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 19, 2015, at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. A visitation will be from 4-7:30 P.M. on Friday and from 10-11 A.M. on Saturday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Funeral arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Chris was born on April 2, 1981, in Little Falls, MN to Craig and Cindy (Tholen) Kalahar. He grew up in Little Falls where he attended school and graduated from the Little Falls High School with the Class of 2000. After graduation, Chris went on to earn his Bachelor’s of Science Degree at the University of Minnesota-Crookston majoring in forestry. He was employed with the State of Minnesota in the Department of Natural Resources area. He worked at Father Hennepin State Park, Itasca State Park and most recently in the Scientific Department in the Fergus Falls office. Christopher loved the outdoors, when he wasn't working outside, he was recreating outside. He was an avid birdwatcher, loved fishing, canoeing, and kayaking. Chris was very passionate and knowledgeable about the environment, and truly loved everything about it. He also enjoyed family gatherings and taking vacations to the lake. Chris will forever be remembered as a very kind young man that never wanted to talk badly about anyone. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Chris is survived by parents, Craig and Cindy Kalahar of Little Falls, MN; sister, Kari (Jeremy) Hellpap of White Bear Lake, MN; grandma, Florence Tholen of Little Falls, MN; aunts and uncles, Lynn (Yvonne) Kalahar of Fort Ripley, MN, Douglas Kalahar of Mankato, MN, Kathy Kinkaid of Indian Trail, NC, Mark (Glenna) Kalahar of Bismarck, ND; and Deb Kalahar of Payson, AZ; Diana (Rick) Fraser of Fort Ripley, MN, Wendy (Steve) Hennes of Sartell, MN, Mike (Bonnie) Tholen of Little Falls, MN, Becki Tholen (Tom Swedenburg) of Stillwater, MN and Jeff (Aimee) Tholen of Little Falls, MN; and many cousins. Chris was preceded in death by grandfather, Neal ‘Cotton’ Tholen; grandparents, Marlin and Lorraine Kalahar; special great-aunt, Marian Karhula; uncles, Randy Kalahar and Bruce Pfeiffer; and aunt, Debbie (Tholen) Pfeiffer.
