Clarence Herold

Clarence M. Herold, 86 year old resident of Pierz, MN passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at his residence in rural Pierz, MN. A Memorial Mass will be held at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz, MN with Father Gerald Dalseth officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Pierz, MN. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M on Friday at the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz, MN, and from 8:30 to 9:30 on Friday at the funeral home. Christian Mothers will pray a rosary at 4:30 on Friday and Parish Prayers will be prayed at 6:30 P.M. Arrangements are with the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz, MN. Clarence Matthew Herold was born on September 12, 1920 in Pierz, MN to the late Alfred and Dora (Gruber) Herold. He attended country school in Pierz Township through the eighth grade. He was united in marriage to Dolores Flicker on September 3, 1945 at St. Joseph’s Church in Pierz. They settled on the Herold homestead where they dairy farmed and raised 13 children. In 1982 Clarence and Dolores relocated to their current home where he continued to enjoy raising cattle, gardening, and other outdoor activities. Clarence dearly loved his wife, Dolores, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He enjoyed playing cards (and winning), listening to the Minnesota Twins, and socializing with family, friends, and neighbors. He especially loved visits from his many grandchildren. He will greatly missed by all his family. Clarence is survived by his wife, Dolores; son, John (Donna) Herold; daughter, Jane (Gerald) Funk; son, James Herold; daughter, Susan (Calvin) Smieja; son, Daniel (Jane) Herold; daughter, LuAnn (Thomas) Dehler; son, Peter (Yvonne) Herold; son, Paul (Michele) Herold; daughter, Linda (Gary) Solinger; daughter, Bonnie (Jeffrey) Meyer; daughter, Judy (Rick) Meyer; daughter, Katie (Greg) Horne; Lisa (John) Wimmer; 44 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Clarence is preceded in death by, his parents; sisters, Janet Nagel & Irene Merkling; brothers, Harvey & Ray Herold.
