Collette M. Benson, 83 year old resident of Little Falls, MN passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Little Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday April 4, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN with Father Jeremy Ploof officiating. Burial will take place in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls, MN. A visitation will be held from 4-7 P.M. on Sunday and from 9:30-10:30 A.M. on Monday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. A parish prayer service will be held at 5:00 P.M. on Sunday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Collette was born on February 24, 1933 in Little Falls, MN to the late William and Marie (Lentz) LeMieur. She grew up in Little Falls, MN where she attended and graduated from Little Falls Community High School. Collette was united in marriage to Jerry Benson on July 12, 1952 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN. The couple made their home in Little Falls where they raised their five children. She was employed at several local businesses throughout her life, some of which include Cora’s Beauty Shop, West Side Furniture, and the Little Falls School District. Collette’s most important job though was being a loving wife and a caring mother. She was always there for her family and was a natural caregiver to her entire family. In her free time Collette enjoyed playing softball, spending time with her family, and enjoyed her flowers. She will always be remembered for her great sense of humor and her contagious smile. Collette was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Collette is survived by husband, Jerry Benson of Little Falls, MN; sons, David (Sheila) Benson of Little Falls, MN, Jim (Patty White) Benson of Little Falls, MN and Jerry Benson Jr. of Little Falls, MN; daughters, Kathy (Rick) Wiersgalla of Baxter, MN and Rebecca (Paul) Diebel of Little Falls, MN; grandchildren, Jill (Chad) Allord, Jody Yeager, Joy (Steven) Opatz, Bryan Diebel, Michael (Erin) Benson, Lisa Benson, Daniel Benson, James (Brittney) Benson Jr; Ryan (Sam) Benson, and Bridget (Erik) Rekowski; 8 great-grandchildren; brothers, Earl LeMieur of Little Falls, MN and Thomas (Paulette) LeMieur of Little Falls, MN; sister, Janet Luberts of Little Falls, MN and special niece, Patty Mallak. Collette was preceded in death by parents, William and Marie LeMieur; brothers, Bill, Don, Bob, Ed, Rich and Kenneth LeMieur and sisters, Mildred Thielen, Leona Knutson, Shirley Pease, Rita Otremba, and Irene LeMieur.
