Darlene A. Lapos

Darlene A. Lapos, 69 year old resident of Flensburg, MN, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the Little Falls Care Center, surrounded by her loving family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 AM on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg, with Father Jimmy Joseph officiating and Father Joe Herzing con-celebrating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart’s parish cemetery in Flensburg. Visitation will be from 8:30 until 11 AM on Friday at the church, with a Rosary prayed at 9 AM. Darlene Ann Johannes was born on August 9, 1945 in Flensburg, MN, to the late John and Theodora “Daisy” (Fietek) Johannes. She grew up on the family farm in Flensburg and attended the Sacred Heart Catholic School. Darlene was united in marriage to Donald P. Lapos on June 21, 1965 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Together they made their home in Flensburg and were blessed with three children, Paul, Carol, and Janelle. Darlene worked at St. Gabriel’s Hospital in the laundry department, and then at the 12 Mile Tavern, which was owned by her brother, Jim and his wife Betty, for many years. When they sold the business, Darlene went to work at the Pine Edge Inn, as well as working at local turkey and chicken barns, the Swanville Locker, and cleaning at area households. Darlene also babysat for many of the local children. Darlene was a devoted wife, and truly cherished her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed spending as much time as she could with family and friends. Darlene enjoyed old time and country music, playing dice and card games, word finds, gardening, and going to a good garage sale. Darlene will be greatly missed by her children, Paul (Tracey) Lapos of Little Falls, MN, Carol (Ray) Zanda of Little Falls, and Janelle (Bruce) Mienert of Merrifield, MN; grandchildren, Kayla (Craig) Bohnsack, John Cichon, Brandon Lapos, Sarah Lapos, Mara Mienert, Joshua Mienert, Lauren Lapos, and Raymond Zanda; great grandchildren, Addison and Emma Bohnsack; brother, Ronald (Jean) Johannes of Grand Junction, CO; sister-in-law, Betty Fietek of Swanville, MN; uncle, Clem Fietek of Little Falls; son-in-law, David Cichon of Little Falls; and special friend, Jan Rogers of Ramsey, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; and brother Jim Fietek.
