Darlene Mary Okroi, 76 year old resident of Little Falls, MN passed away Monday, July 14, 2008 at her home in Little Falls, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday (July 18) at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN with Father Mark Innocenti officiating. Burial will take place at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Cemetery in Little Falls, MN. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. on Thursday and from 10 to 11 A.M. on Friday at the Shelley Funeral Chapels in Little Falls, MN. A Parish Prayer service will be at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday evening at the funeral home. Funeral arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Darlene was born June 2, 1932 in Adrian, Noble County, Minnesota to the late Venno and Florence (Reiter) Werkman. She attended school in Rushmore, MN until1943. The family then moved to Ripley Township, Morrison County, MN. Darlene attended High School in District # 42 and then attended Vocational School, graduating in 1950. Darlene worked at St. Gabriel’s Hospital from 1949 to 1952. She was united in marriage to Joe Okroi in 1952. When her children were of school age she went back to work at the Lutheran Care Center as a manager of the Rehabilitation Department. Darlene retired in 1996 and did volunteer work at the Lutheran Care Center. She was also the School Board Clerk for 6 years for District #411. Darlene loved to sew, quilt, and play cards. She will be greatly missed by many close family members and friends. Darlene is survived by husband, Joe Okroi Sr. of Little Falls, MN; sons, Joe Okroi Jr. of Little Falls, MN and Dave Okroi of Little Falls, MN; daughter, Paulette Okroi of Dogtown, AL; brothers, Donald ( Carol) Werkman of Little Falls, MN, Larry (Shirley) Werkman of Audubon, MN, Floyd Werkman of Royalton, MN, and Herman (Lois) Werkman of Pryor, OK; sisters, Ann Halberg of Little Falls, MN, Verna Reck of Sibley, IA, LaVonne (Don) Adams of Little Falls, MN; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Darlene is preceded in death by parents, Venno and Florence (Reiter) Werkman; brothers, Eldon and Frank Werkman; and sister, Georgia Lange. Pallbearers will be Erin Meyer, Shurod Marrow, John Erdrich, Emil Okroi Jr., Paul Okroi and Merle Waytashek.
