David A. Barnes

David A. Barnes, 62 year old resident of Little Falls, MN, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023, at the St. Cloud Hospital from complications of a stroke, that occurred on his 41st wedding anniversary. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Caring for David and his family is the Shelley Funeral Chapel of Little Falls. David Alan Barnes was born on February 9, 1961 in Little Falls, MN to George and Margie (Winskowki) Barnes. He was raised in Little Falls with his 11 brothers and sisters. When David was young, he rode motorcycles and drove muscle cars. He also enjoyed fishing, chopping wood, working on guns, being outside, teaching his boys automotive skills, and loved fires in the backyard. David started out working at Ray’s Body Shop as a teenager. He moved to Oklahoma in 1982 to follow his high school sweetheart, Cheryl Parker. They were married on May 28, 1982 in Ponca City, OK. They welcomed their first 2 sons there. David worked at a golf course and laid pipe. He and Chery lived there for 5 years and then moved back to Little Falls, where they settled for the rest of his life, adding 2 more sons to their family. David worked at Crestliner, Falls GM, Brandl Motors, and Rudolph’s. David leaves behind his wife of 41 years Cheryl; sons, Kevin (Kara) Barnes of Bertha, Corey, Cameron, and Kaleb all of Little Falls; mother, Margie Barnes of Little Falls; brothers, Bob, Jerry, George, and Mike (Theresa) all of Little Falls, Alan (Karen) of Pequot Lakes, and John (Kim) of Little Falls; sisters, Margie (Mike) Allen of Brainerd, Lisa (Danny) Rekowski of Merrifield, Geralyn of Little Falls, Mary (friend, George) of Merrifield and Melissa (Lance) Graves of Royalton; 3 grandchildren, Corey of Fargo, Kacie (friend, Simon) of Deer Creek, Paige (Jason) Johnson of St. Cloud; 3 great-grandchildren, Natalie, Brekkan and Greyson; mother-in-law, Violet Parker of Pierz; brothers-in-law, Marlin (Shannon) Parker and Anthony (Andrea) Parker of Suffolk, Virginia; 6 nephews and 4 great nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his father, George Barnes; father-in-law, Marlin Parker and nephew, Samuel Parker.
