David Slettom

David O. A. Slettom, age 81, a resident of rural Little Falls, MN passed away Thursday, September 20, 2007 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at Zion Lutheran Church in Little Falls with Rev. Robert Frank officiating. Burial will be at the Darling Cemetery in Darling Township, Morrison County, MN. A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday, September, 25th at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls and from 9:30 to 10:30 AM on Wednesday at the church. David Olaf Andrew Slettom was born on February 3, 1926 at his home near Little Falls, Minnesota to the late Ole & Selma (Anderson) Slettom. He grew up and worked on the family farm. He attended District #1195 country school in Green Prairie Township. David was united in marriage to JoAnne Catherine (James) Slettom on September 25, 1959. The couple farmed the family farm and raised nine children together. In 1976, David began working for Little Falls Redi Mix. He worked road construction and drove school bus for 20 years. After his retirement he continued to farm. David served on the creamery board, school board and township board. David loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, gardening, farming, logging and sawing lumber with his own sawmill. He enjoyed reading, listening to polka music and spending time with his family. He loved visits from his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. David is survived by his wife, JoAnne Slettom of Little Falls, MN; daughters, Sandra Lubbers & husband, Don of Little Falls, MN, JoMarie Michel & husband, Mark of Browerville, MN, Rebecca Jones & husband, Ron of Little Falls, MN, Marcia Skrukrud & husband, Jay of Willmar, MN and Jolene Walker & husband, Rich of Little Falls, MN; sons, Fred Slettom & wife, Julie of Little Falls, MN, Randy Slettom & special friend, Lucy Munson of Cushing, MN, Steven Slettom & wife, Donna of Little Falls, MN and Dale Slettom & wife, Amy of Warba, MN; a brother, Edward Slettom & wife, Iris of Maplewood, MN; 25 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. David is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carl & Adolph Slettom; sisters, Ellen Carlson, Linnea Nelson and two infant grandchildren. Honorary Pallbearers will be grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Active Pallbearers will be Don Lubbers, Jay Skrukrud, Ron Jones, Joyce Slettom, Conrad Slettom, Amy Slettom, Don Sherwood and Don St.Onge.
