Donald C. Wuellner

Donald C. Wuellner, 93-year-old resident of Pierz, MN, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at the Pierz Villa in Pierz, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M., Friday, August 24, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Pierz, MN with Father Kenneth Popp officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Parish Cemetery in Pierz. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M. and from 9 to 10 A.M. on Friday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Pierz. Donald Charles Wuellner was born on April 26, 1925 in Agram Township, Morrison County, MN, to the late Otto and Margaret (Hoheisel) Wuellner. He was the oldest of nine children. Donald attended Country School in Agram Township from grades 1-8, skipping the 3rd grade. He then attended Little Falls High School graduating with the class of 1942. Donald was united in marriage to Doloria J. Barthel on June 5, 1946 at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz, MN. After they were married, the couple moved to Virginia, MN for a year, where Donald worked in the Iron Mines, helping to construct the first taconite mine. They then moved back to Pierz and Donald began his 35 year career as a self-employed truck driver, retiring in 1982. After that, he worked various jobs which consisted of some construction jobs in the summer, over the road truck escort, a sales clerk at Coast to Coast Store in Pierz and a change person at Grand Casino Mille Lacs. Donald enjoyed watching the Twins and Vikings, fishing, hunting, playing cards, bingo, making homemade soups, gardening and going to the casino. Donald is survived by his daughters; RoAnn of Minneapolis, MN, Ronda Rae (Steven) Ross of Pierz, MN, Pearl (Mike) Wilson of Pierz, MN; son, Donald Jr. (Diane) Wuellner of Albany, MN; 9 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 4 step great-grandchildren; sisters, Elaine Meyer of Pierz, MN, Leora Poster of Pierz, MN; brothers, Harold (Jeanette) Wuellner of Little Falls, MN, Otto Junior (Arlyne) of Little Falls, MN; brother-in-law, Leon Flicker. Donald is preceded in death by his wife, Doloria (2012), infant daughter (1966), parents, Otto (1976) and Margaret (1994), brothers, Norman and Ronald, sisters; Doris and Betty, in-laws; Innis Nesbitt, RoseMarie Nesbitt, Lawrence Poster, Mary Wuellner, Elroy Meyer, Frank Hurrle and Catherine Wuellner.
