Donald J. Bloom Sr.

Donald J. Bloom Sr. 68 year old resident of Little Falls, MN passed away Thursday, October 18, 2007 at St. Cloud Hospital, in St. Cloud, MN. Funeral services for Donald will be held at 11:00 A.M on Monday, October 22 at Zion Lutheran Church in Little Falls with Pastor Robert Frank officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Little Falls. Friends of Donald may call form 4 to 8 P.M on Sunday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls and from 10 to 11 A.M on Monday at Zion Lutheran Church. In Lieu of flowers, memorials preferred. Arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapels of Little Falls. Donald John Bloom Sr. was born on September 12, 1939 in Little Falls, MN to the late Robert and Cecelia (Zuleger) Bloom. Donald attended school in Little Falls and graduated from Little Falls Community High School in 1958. He was united in marriage to Linda Cash on February 23, 1968 at Zion Lutheran Church in Little Falls, MN. Donald worked for Kaiser Trucking in Little Falls for many of years driving truck. He also worked for the Little Falls School District as a custodian, working at nearly every school in the district. After he retired in 1997 he continued to farm, something he had done his entire life. Donald enjoyed fishing, field work, farming, the great outdoors, visiting with family and friends, and watching ‘Walker Texas Ranger’. He loved his friends he had at Wal-Mart and Coborns Deli which he visited almost everyday. One of his biggest joys was “Family Friday” which his entire family would meet at the Upsala Café for an enjoyable evening. Donald had a great love for his family and friends and will be miss by all. Donald is survived by wife, Linda Bloom of Little Falls, MN; son, Donald Bloom Jr. of Little Falls, MN; daughter, Rebecca (Mark) Engelstad of Eden Valley, MN; sisters, Roberta (Wilfred) Lashinski of Little Falls, MN, and Geneiva Haux of Little Falls, MN; brothers, Harvey (Helen) Bloom of Randall, MN, and Sherman (Pamela) Bloom of Little Falls, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Donald is preceded in death by, parents, Robert and Cecelia (Zuleger) Bloom; in-laws, James and Alice Cash; and brother-in-law, Jim Haux.
