Dr. Wallace E. Erickson

Dr. Wallace Erickson, 80 year old, resident of Little Falls, MN passed away peacefully Sunday, October 29, 2006 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Little Falls with Pastor Rachel Flogstad– Heise & Pastor Carl Larson officiating. Burial will be in Darling Cemetery in Little Falls. Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. on Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, November 1st at Bethel Lutheran Church . Arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Wallace was born on December 4, 1925 in Rush City, Nessel Township, Minnesota to the late Elmer and Hilda (Hawkinson) Erickson. He attended the University of Minnesota and graduated in 1950 with a major in Dairy Husbandry and a minor in Agricultural Economics. He was working in Roseau where he met and married Ardys Albin. In 1953, he returned to the University of Minnesota for graduate studies and was awarded his Ph.D. in June of 1957. He was employed by Northwest Breeders Association, Tri-State Breeders Cooperative, East Central Breeders Association Cooperative, and COBA/SELECT SIRES, INC. Wally retired in 1988. He served as president of the National Association of Animal Breeders in 1978, president of the Ohio Council of Farmer Cooperative from 1979-1980, and president of the Ohio Agricultural Council in 1986-1987. He was recognized for his support of Vocational Agriculture, FFA, The National Association of Animal Breeders, and Ohio State University. Wally was very involved with Boy Scouts and Explorer Scouts, serving as a Scoutmaster. He was also a member of the Kiwanis club since1957. He dedicated his life to serving his fellowman through his faith and church. Wally’s interests were reading, photography, camping, collecting stamps & coins, genealogy & family history. Wallace is survived by wife, Ardys of Little Falls, MN; son, Mark (Annette) Erickson of Fond du Lac, WI; daughter, Debra (Myron) Czech of Little Falls; grandchildren, Brent, Micki, Adrienne, and Carly Czech all of Little Falls, MN; brother, Gordon Erickson of Pine City, MN; sister-in-law, Millie Rolph of Rush City, MN; nephews, Daryl Erickson of Minneapolis, MN, and Douglas Erickson of Cambridge, MN.
