Duane G. Brill

Duane G. Brill, 83 year old resident of Ripley Township, MN, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2014 at his residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 AM on Friday, October 24th at Holy Family Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN. Father Joseph Herzing will officiate and burial will be at Holy Family Parish Cemetery in Little Falls. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday, October 23rd at Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, and from 10 to 11 AM on Friday at the church. Parish Prayer Service will be at 5 pm, and Christian Mothers will pray the Rosary at 6:30 pm on Thursday. Duane G. Brill was born on August 27, 1931 in Ripley Township, Morrison County to the late Arnold and Sadie (Doucette) Brill. He was united in marriage to Florentine Woitalla on February 16, 1953 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Harding, MN. They settled on their family dairy farm in Ripley Township. In addition to running the farm, Duane also worked in road construction as a heavy equipment operator and also picked up milk for Westside Creamery. Duane enjoyed camping, collecting tractors, attending auctions, and traveling to Colorado to visit his son. He also loved dancing, listening to old tyme music, and caring for his beef and dairy cows. Duane’s faith was very strong and he attended mass regularly at Holy Family Catholic Church in Belle Prairie where he was an active member. Duane enjoyed family gatherings, especially the holidays. He went on several picnics to Lum Park with his family. He was always happy to celebrate birthday parties for their great grandchildren and attended their Baptisms as well. Duane would go to town, often times for only one item, it gave him a chance to get a hamburger at Burger King! And his favorite saying or answer to any question was, "Don't Make Me No Difference". Duane is survived by wife, Florentine Brill of Ripley Township; children, George (Sandy) Brill of Loveland, CO, Jim (Julie) Brill of Little Falls, MN, Joseph (Judy) Brill of Little Falls, MN, Karen (Bruce) Petersen of Montrose, MN, David (Kim) Brill of Fort Ripley, MN and Mark Brill of Opole, MN; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Duane was preceded in death by parents, Arnold and Sadie Brill.
