Ellen Ardis Borgstrom

Ellen “Ardis” Borgstrom, 86-year-old resident of Little Falls, MN passed away Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Highland Senior Living in Little Falls. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Little Falls, MN with Rev. Jean Megorden officiating. Burial will take place in the Darling Cemetery in Little Falls, MN. A visitation will be held from 4-7 P.M. on Wednesday and from 10-11 A.M. on Thursday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Little Falls, MN. Ardis was born on March 3, 1930 in Little Falls, MN to the late Knute and Minnie (Nelson) Gunderson. She grew up in Upsala, MN and attended Country School and graduated from Little Falls High School with the Class of 1948. After graduation Ardis went on to receive her teaching certificate and taught at the Brickyard Country School in Little Falls, MN. She was united in marriage to Robert Borgstrom on August 4, 1951 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Elmdale, MN. The couple resided in Little Falls, MN where they raised their six children. Ardis enjoyed growing flowers, gardening and caring for the yard on her hobby farm that she loved so dearly. Her greatest job in life was being a loving wife and a nurturing mother. Ardis always put her family’s needs first. She was a very active member of Bethel Lutheran Church for 64 years where she participated as a Sunday school teacher, youth leader, choir member, and church pianist for many years. Ardis also was the pianist at the Lutheran Home for Church services. Later in life she began working at Lincoln School as a secretary and a para-professional. She was a very active lady that loved to walk, ride bike, read, and sing. She will forever be remembered for her incredible ability to cook and bake, especially breads and desserts. Ardis was a very hard working women that was loved by many and will be dearly missed. Ardis is survived by sons, Tim (Laurie) Borgstrom of Niceville, FL; Gregg (Nicole) Borgstrom of St. Cloud, MN and Todd (Kim) Borgstrom of Long Prairie, MN; daughters, Merrily Smith of Savage, MN; Shelly (Basil) LeBlanc of Rice, MN and Audrey (Rick) Webb of Mesa, AZ; grandchildren, Micha, Sarah, Jeremy, Eric, Jennifer, Kristine, Jack, Brandon, Benjamin, Abby, Kyle, and Shawn; and 10 great-grandchildren. Ardis was preceded in death by parents, Knute and Minnie Gunderson; husband, Robert “Bob” Borgstrom; three brothers; and two sisters.
