Evelyn Mary (Guck) Smith, 91 year old resident of Little Falls, MN passed away Sunday July 6, 2008 at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday (July 10) at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN with Father Dale Ettel officiating. Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery in Little Falls, MN. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. on Wednesday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN and from 10 to 11 A.M. on Thursday at the Funeral Home. Christian Mother’s Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 P.M. on Wednesday and Parish Prayers at 7:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Evelyn M. (Guck) Smith was born on September 16, 1916 in Royalton, MN to the late Frank and Rose (Schultheis) Guck. She grew up in the Royalton area where she attended school. Evelyn worked as a waitress at the Buckman Hotel in Little Falls, MN for many years. She was united in marriage to Leonard (Smitty) Smith on November 13, 1943 in El Paso, TX. The couple resided in Little Falls until present day. Evelyn was a great cook and was known for her famous bread. Evelyn also loved to dance and spend time outdoors. She was a life long member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls as well as the Christian Mothers and the St. Jude Mission Circle. Evelyn donated many hours of her time volunteering at the Little Falls Senior Center making donuts, Meals on Wheels, and preparing funeral lunches at St. Mary’s Church. Evelyn will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Evelyn is survived by her sons, Leonard Smith of Key Largo, FL and Michael (Donna) Smith of Key Largo, FL; brother, Al (Martha) Guck of Brainerd, MN; sister, Katherine Jackson of the Twin Cities, Bernice Meyers of Little Falls, MN, and Caroline (Edwin) Plante of Colorado Springs, CO; eight grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Evelyn is preceded in death by husband Leonard N. (Smitty) Smith on December 23, 1978; parents, Frank and Rose (Schultheis) Guck; brothers, Herb, Elmer, Jim, Edward, and infant Frank Jr.; sisters, Rose Ann Zylka and Helen Ring.
