Gary M. Witt

Gary M. Witt, 65 year old resident of Little Falls, MN, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the St. Cloud Hospital. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls with Father Joseph Herzing officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 AM on Saturday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel. Gary Michael Witt was born October 23, 1950 in St. Paul, MN to Daniel B. Witt and Shirley E. Rasmussen (Witt). Growing up, he started his education in St. Paul and graduated from Little Falls High School in 1968. Gary, second oldest of his siblings, was always busy following his dad around and trying to help out. Shortly after high school, Gary met Jeanne, almost ran her over with his blue Chevelle, they fell in love and were married in June 1970. Shortly after, Shannon and Darrin were born. During his twenties, Gary enjoyed playing on various baseball and softball leagues, when he wasn’t busy being a devoted father to his children. Gary’s love for his kids showed in his hands on approach to parenting, being involved in all that they did. His love for the outdoors showed in his desire for fishing, hunting, camping, golfing, snowmobiling, and racing. His hunting and fishing trips would take him to places such as Canada, Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado. Racing his 1968 Chevelle at Donny Brooke Raceway in Brainerd was another past time that Gary loved. Family camping trips were another favorite of Gary. We would end with our evenings around a bonfire and playing “telephone”. The grandkids loved to play this with grandpa Gary because he was a little hard of hearing and what he thought he heard was a bit different from what was actually said. Lots of laughter and great memories were made! Visiting the casino was something that Gary lived for. Taking the grandkids to the casino, to gobble down crab legs for their birthdays, was a must! It looked like it had snowed inside when they were finished eating. When Gary wasn’t playing, he was a busy guy working hard to make a living. Gary had many different working titles in his life. He worked in construction, alongside his dad for many years. He and Jeanne had owned “The Country Place” bar and restaurant for about 10 years. His last profession was an OTR truck driver. Gary and Rush Limbaugh, his favorite radio talk show host, logged many, many miles in his semi. One of Gary’s last requests was that he needed a “Hail Mary Pass” for a miracle. We know that he now has that miracle, as he is enjoying heaven and all of its glory. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Jeanne Witt of Little Falls; children, Shannon (Gary) Pusc of Little Falls, and Darrin (Stacey) Witt of Sartell; siblings, Sue (Jerry) Kulus of Fort Ripley, Dale Witt of Little Falls, and Jeff (Peggy) Witt of Little Falls; “five special K” grandchildren, Kyle Pusc, Kalli Hengemuhle, Katelyn Pusc, Kyndra Pusc and Keegan Witt. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Shirley Witt.
