George Posterick

George F. Posterick, 82 year old resident of Little Falls, died October 13, 2007 at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls with Father Mark Innocenti officiating. Interment will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls. Military Rites will be conducted by the Little Falls American Legion Post #46. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 16th at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls and from 8:30 to 9:30 AM on Wednesday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel. George F. Posterick was born to John and Margaret (Kalis) Posterick on January 30, 1925 in Foley, Benton County. He grew up in the Little Rock/Royalton area and attended a country school by Little Rock. He served in the Army during World War II. Returning to Minnesota, he worked for the Merchant Marines on the iron ore ships. On June 15, 1953, he was united in marriage to Lucille Hlad at Sacred Heart Church in Flensburg, MN. They moved to St. Paul where they resided for six years. In 1959 they purchased a farm in the Flensburg area and resided until 1994. Upon his retirement, they moved to Little Falls, residing there until the time of his death. He loved farming and gardening. His biggest joys in life were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. George leaves behind his wife Lucille; five sons, Brian of Royalton, Dennis and wife Leah of Little Falls, Dean and wife Julie of Baxter, Darrell and wife Val of Little Falls, Gordon and wife Julie of Little Falls; two daughters, Renee Nieman and husband Mike of Little Falls, Cheryl Ploof and husband Galen of Little Falls; brothers Alfred (Theresa) of Randall, and Alois (Elaine) of Sartell; sisters Valery Gruber of Pierz and Shirley (Bill) Bassett of Brainerd; 25 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. George was preceded in death by his parents John and Margaret; brothers Lawrence and John Jr.; sisters Margaret Halama, Betty Sykes, and infant sisters Genevieve and Magdalene; brothers-in-law Al Yanta and Al Gruber. Pallbearers will be Jason Nieman, Nathan Posterick, Ryan Posterick, Raymond Posterick, Justin Posterick and Lance Posterick.
