Gerald Hoffman 76 year old resident of Little Rock, MN passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015 at the Little Falls Care Center in Little Falls, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, April 13, 2015 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Buckman, MN with Father Gerald Dalseth officiating. Burial will take place in St. Michael's Parish Cemetery in Buckman, MN. A visitation will be held from 4-8 P.M. on Sunday and from 9:30-10:30 A.M. on Monday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Buckman, MN. The Christian Mothers will pray a Rosary at 4:30 PM, followed by a Parish Prayer Service at 7 PM on Sunday. Arrangements are with the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz, MN. Gerald William Hoffman was born on May 25, 1938 in Pierz, MN to the late William and Regina (Tretter) Hoffman on the family farm. He grew up and helped on the farm while attending St. Joseph Parochial school in Pierz. He later worked at DeZurik Foundry in Minneapolis. Gerald was united in marriage to Lorraine Ruegemer on June 14, 1960 at St. Martin Church in St. Martin, MN. Together they bought a dairy farm near Little Rock in 1961, which they farmed until retiring in 2001. Gerald enjoyed his work caring for his animals and his land. His grandchildren were his pride and joy and he enjoyed spending time with them, giving them tractor rides on his lap and taking them on fishing trips. They felt loved and secure in his presence. His favorite hangout was the Little Rock Creamery sharing stories and wisdom. Every child who came into the creamery received an ice cream treat from Gerald. He attended the Rich Prairie Livestock Auction every Monday and loved to play cards with his neighbors and friends. He was a member of St. Michael’s Society. Gerald is survived by his wife, Lorraine; daughters, Linda Hoffman of Little Rock, MN, Gail (Ryan) Peterson of Kenyon, MN, and Mary Hoffman of Little Falls, MN; brother, Robert (Theresa) Hoffman of Pierz, MN; sister, Annella (Clarence) Blonigen of St. Martin, MN; grandchildren, Amy Gadacz, Davin Peterson, Rachel Peterson, and Nicole Peterson, and great grandson, Braxtyn Gadacz. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Regina Hoffman; brothers, Alphonse Hoffman, and Richard Hoffman; and sister, Clara Brausen. Honorary Bearers are his Little Rock friends and neighbors, Daryll Melby, David Lanners, Butch Bauer, Joe Nordmann, Wade Bauer, Cel Gall, Bob Wimmer, Mike Winscher, Rod Winscher, Jim Kloss, Tim Waterott, Roger Gall, Roy Winscher, and Lawrence Guck. Casketbearers will be Davin Peterson, Daniel Gadacz, Todd Bauer, Kurt Bauer, Shaun Bauer, Shawn Winscher, Adam Wimmer, and Paul Grittner.
