Giovanna (Janet) Kunkel, 81 year old resident of St. Cloud, MN formerly of Little Falls, MN passed away Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Country Manor in Sartell, MN. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Friday (May 16) at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN with Father Nicholas Landsberger officiating. Burial will take place at the Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery in Little Falls, MN. Friends may call from 5 to 8 P.M. on Thursday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls and from 10:30 to 11:30 A.M. on Friday at the church. A prayer service will be prayed at 7:30 P.M. on Thursday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel. Arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Giovanna (Janet) Kunkel was born August 2, 1926 in Resano, Italy to the late Oliva and Giovanni Caon. She was united in marriage to David Kunkel on August 22, 1946 in Cormons, Italy. Janet was a devoted wife and loving mother. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, sewing, gardening, cooking, dancing, laughing, and whistling at the birds. She loved spending time with family and friends and sharing her gift of hospitality. Janet was a life time member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. She spent many hours volunteering at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and school. Janet is survived by daughters, Mary Lou (Che) May and husband, William of Winthrop, MN, Susan Hanson and husband, Jerry of Little Falls, MN, Karen DesAutels and husband, Daniel of St. Cloud, MN, Cynthia Monn and husband, Michael of Lakeville, MN, and Michelle Blaine and husband, Greg of Little Falls, MN; grandchildren, Ann Welker and husband Jeff, John Hanson, Becky Helget, Alicia LaFee and husband Aaron, Adam DesAutels and wife, Melissa, Angela Monn, Marissa Monn, Julianna Monn; great-grandchildren, Amanda and Brett Welker; great-great grandson, Owen Welker; sisters, Rosina Caon, Lina Caon, and Carla Caon; many nieces and nephews. Janet is preceded in death by her husband, David Kunkel; parents, Oliva and Giovanni Caon; brothers, Virginio and Angelo Caon; sisters, Angela Caon, Lizetta Caon, Maria Caon; great grandson, Jesse Hanson; niece, Alma Vergolini.
