Gordon Johnson

Gordon (Gordy) Johnson, 71 year-old resident of Little Falls, MN, formerly of Blaine, MN passed away October 26, 2013 surrounded by family and friends at St Cloud Hospital in St Cloud, MN. A Celebration of Life Ceremony (birthday party) will be held at 1:30 P.M. on November 10, 2013 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Mounds View , MN with a lunch to follow after the service. Friends and family can gather at 1:00 P.M. prior to the service at the church. The family of Gordy invites you to share your favorite memories of him during the memorial service. Gordy was born on November 10, 1941 in Knife Falls, MN to the late Elmer and Alice Johnson. The family lived in Blaine, MN where he attended Spring Lake Park High School. He graduated in 1959. He started working for Target Corporation in Fridley, MN in 1969. After working there for 34 years he retired in 2004. Soon after retiring, Gordy took his dream trip through much of the western United States, golfing and touring the National parks, ending with a midnight golf tee-time in Alaska. One of his passions was photography. The man behind the lens loved capturing the beauty of nature, wild life and his family. He found enjoyment and serenity with gardening and woodworking. He also enjoyed playing softball, golfing and spending time with his lifelong friends. Gordy cherished being surrounded by “his girls”, his family, his treasured grandchildren and great grandson. Whether it was a holiday gathering, watching his grandson play hockey, being up at Tom’s cabin or an impromptu BBQ. Gordy loved his music. If you heard 1950’s music, you knew Gordy was around. It was never a surprise for Gordy to start a conversation with, “have you seen any good movies lately?” Gordy loved all movies, spanning all decades. Left to cherish his memory are daughters, Gina (Marc) Bryan of Blaine, MN, Rebecca (Kent) Kapla of Baldwin, WI, Jessica Boser (Jason Eastwood) of Little Falls, MN, and Alison Johnson (fiancé Matt Bush) of Savannah, GA; sister, Rosemary (Earl) Zimmerman of Tower, MN; brother, Chuck (Joan) Johnson of Cinnaminson, NJ; grandchildren, Jennifer Weber, Devin Kapla, Kaysie Kapla, Stacy Anderson, Tayla Kapla, Aleia Boser, Nathan Boser; great grandson, Tayler James Boe; ex-wives, Gwen Anderson and Wendy Olson; and several extended family members and life long friends. Gordy is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Alice; and dog, Scooter.
