Ione Risting

Ione Risting, 71 year old resident of Little Falls, MN passed away Thursday, May 24, 2007 at St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls, MN. Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, May 29 at First Lutheran Church in Little Falls, MN with Pastor Nate Bjorge officiating. Friends may call from 4-8 PM on Monday, May 28 at the church and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday also at the church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Little Falls, MN Ione was born on January 26, 1936 in Minneota, MN to the late Nels & Grace Myhre. She attended country school thru the 8th grade and graduated from Minneota High School in 1953. After high school she attended Mankato State College for two years. She was united in marriage to Darwin Risting August 25, 1956 at Hope Lutheran Church in Minneota, MN. The couple lived in Brownton, MN were she worked as a Lab Technician at the local clinic. Ione and Darwin moved to Little Falls in 1969 where they raised their two children Tim & Angie. She was a stay at home mom, raising her two children and later spending time with her grandchildren. Ione really enjoyed sewing, knitting, embroidery, & needle work. She quilted a quilt for each one of her grandchildren and children. Ione was active in 2 birthday clubs with her lady friends and enjoyed gardening and most of all spending time with her grandchildren and family. Ione is survived by: husband, Darwin Risting of Little Falls, MN; son, Tim Risting & wife, Michelle of Elk River, MN; daughter, Angie Murphy & husband, Tim of St. Michael, MN; grandchildren, Tara, Maia, Mitchell, Alison, Meghan, & Mackenzie; brothers, Gerald Myhre & wife, Shirley of Tracy, MN, Nels Myhre Jr. & wife, Pat of Minneota, MN; sisters, Doris Younquist & husband, Dave of Annandale, MN, Karen Schmit & husband, Gary of Rochester, MN, & Sheree Hoffman & husband, Ken of Eagan, MN. Ione was preceded in death by her parents and two infant grandchildren. Casket Bearers are Jerome Haaland, Kenny Bergren, Wayne Liljegren, Darrell Larsen, Denny Larsen, Shawn Larsen, & Larry Sharon.
