Ivan Petersen

Ivan Petersen, 84 year old resident of Randall, MN, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at his residence. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, May 20, 2016 at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN with Bob Mueller officiating. Burial will take place in the Randall City Cemetery in Randall, MN. A visitation will be held from 4-7 P.M. on Thursday and from 10-11 A.M. on Friday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Arrangements are with Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Ivan was born on the family farm, north of Randall, Minnesota to David and Anna (Wolters) Petersen on November 6, 1931. He graduated from Little Falls High School in 1949. Ivan was united in marriage to Patricia James on December 27, 1954. Together, the couple raised 5 children, Glenda, Cheryl, Alan, Peggy, and Pam. Ivan loved farming. He spent his entire life working on the family farm with his dad and later his wife and son. Ivan continued to farm until his death. He also spent many years serving the community. Ivan worked as the Supervisor for Cushing Township, formerly Clough Township, for 40 years, and dedicated many years to the Randall Creamery Board, and also served as Fire Warden. When Ivan wasn't farming, he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids, that he loved so much. He also enjoyed hunting with his family, bird watching out of his living room window, watching the Minnesota Twins (much to Pat’s dismay), and visiting with friends and family that would stop in at the farm. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Pat of Randall, MN; children, Cheryl (Gary) Andres of Fort Ripley, MN; Alan (Darcy) Petersen of Randall, MN; Peggy (Pat) Boone of Fort Ripley, MN; and Pam (Randy) Lundgren of Little Falls, MN; 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandchild; his brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Eileen Petersen of Akeley, MN; and brother-in-law, Bob Walston of Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Glenda Petrich; son-in-law, Donald Petrich; brother, Harley Petersen; and sisters, Lillian Walston and Hannah Gregersen.
