John Sobiech

John Sobiech, 68 year old resident of Sobieski, MN, passed away Monday, September 16, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski, MN with Father David Grundman officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Stanislaus Parish Cemetery in Sobieski, MN. A visitation will be held from 4-7 P.M. on Friday, September 20, 2024 at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN and from 10-11 A.M. on Saturday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Sobieski, MN. He attended school in Little Falls and graduated with the class of 1975. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Mary Lou Streich on November 26, 1976, at St. Matthew's in Columbia Heights, Minnesota. John worked as a welder for Polar Tank Trailer for 42 years. He truly loved working on the farm with his sons. He loved to get into the combine each fall even when it became more physically challenging. He also enjoyed watching his family’s farming adventure expand with the addition of Sobiech Farm’s Pig Barn. John loved a good ball game, from his time playing with the Sobieski Skis to watching Vikings and Twins with his sons. John was an avid outdoorsman. He shared his love each deer season with his sons and hunting crew. He also helped to educate the next generation by being an active firearm safety instructor for more than 30 years. John was an active member of the Catholic Church in both Sobieski and Flensburg. He was active as an Eucharist Minister, usher and lector within the church. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 48 years, Mary Lou Sobiech of Sobieski: sons, John (Elizabeth) of Swanville, Daniel of Sobieski and Matthew of Sobieski; grandchildren, Anthony and Samantha of Swanville; sisters, Jeanette (Allan) Kremers of Swanville, MN and JoAnn (Pat) Fussy of Royalton, MN; in-laws, Darlene Streich, Doug (Missy) Streich and Larry (Julie) Streich; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Marie Sobiech; brothers, Jerry and Jim Sobiech; and in-laws, Walter, Alvara and Roger Streich.
