Joseph P. Stockdale

Joseph P. Stockdale, age 84 resident of Little Falls, MN formerly of Flensburg passed away Saturday, June 2, 2018 at the St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls. Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at the St. Otto’s Care Center Chapel in Little Falls with Rev. Ryan Olson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday at St. Otto’s. Burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery in Little Falls. Joseph Paul Stockdale, Jr. was born on February 24, 1934 to the late Joseph Sr. and Hattie (Jelinski) Stockdale of the Flensburg, MN. area. He attended Country School thru the 8th grade. Joe then stayed home to help on the farm, as he was their only son. On September 28, 1957, he was united in marriage to Betty M. Olson of Swanville, MN at Sacred Heart Church in Flensburg, MN. Following their marriage, they purchased and took over the family dairy farm northwest of Flensburg and continued to farm, raising their 2 sons and 3 daughters. The dairy farm consisted of a 94 cow milking operation. While farming, he also worked at Creameries Blending in Little Falls, for approximately 4 years. Before he sold the Flensburg farm at auction, Joe owned and operated Stockdale Sales and Service, in which he sold and installed Patz and Berg Barn Cleaners, and also sold equipment, such as Wishek Discs and Knight Spreaders. Joseph and Betty eventually separated. He was later blessed with another daughter. He then moved to Randall, MN with his oldest son, John and they continued farming together, raising beef cattle and sheep for approximately 5 years. He then sold the Randall farm and moved to a Little Falls farm with Frances Okroi, where they continued to farm and raise beef cattle for 18 years. The things Joe loved most in his life were his family, farming, his cattle and his Dog, Buford. You would find him up late at night nursing a sick cow. He loved his Ford and Massey Ferguson Tractors and Ford (Tough) Trucks. He loved to visit with others, especially when it came to trucks, as he stated, “there was nothing better on the road than a Ford”. Joseph is survived by his former wife, Betty Stockdale, of St Otto's Care Center in Little Falls MN; son, John Stockdale of Little Falls, MN; daughter, Lori and husband, Gary Schneider, of Little Falls MN; daughter, Jackie and husband, Randy Marx, Sr. of Cushing, MN; son, Greg Stockdale of St. Cloud, MN; daughter, Debra Stockdale of Little Falls, MN; daughter, Sara Theimer of Little Falls, MN; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and friend, Frances Okroi. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph, Sr. and Hattie Stockdale and sister, Geraldine James.
