Joseph H. Faust Jr.

Joseph “JR” “Junie” Faust a resident of Pierz, MN formerly of Hillman, MN died January 3, 2010 at the Pierz Villa. Joe was born in Genola on March 29, 1931 to the late Joseph Sr. and Christine (Rauch) Faust. He united in marriage to Donna Waytashek on June 25, 1957. They had 5 children and lived in Coon Rapids. Later they were divorced. Joe and the 4 youngest children returned to the rural Hillman area. On January 1st, 1989 he married Yvonne Bonnie (Probasco-Scherma). As a young man Joe worked in Minneapolis at Dispatch Ovens, later he worked on the boats at the Duluth Harbor on Lake Superior. Then he was drafted into the Army and served during the Korean Conflict. After the Army he worked at Palm Tool in Coon Rapids, then Clow Stamping in Merrifield and retired from Acro Metal in Brainerd. He also owned “JRS” garage. After retirement Joe worked at Father Hennepin State Park in Isle, MN. Joe and Bonnie enjoyed going to Joe’s Army reunions every 2 years. Joe really enjoyed seeing all his “old” Army buddies. Joe loved cutting wood, snowmobiling, making toys and walking sticks out of wood, but most of all he loved his Ford tractors. Joe enjoyed deer hunting and just being in the woods. He and his wife Bonnie drove to Alaska and also camped at most of the State Parks in Minnesota, they loved hiking. Three years ago he went to live in Pierz at the Pierz Villa due to his Parkinsons disease. Joe will be sorely missed by his wife, Bonnie of Pierz, MN; sons, Tony (Angie) Faust of Otsego, MN, Joe III (Kathy) of Hillman, MN, John (Jessica) of Isle, MN; daughters, Barbara Hollerud of Andover, MN, Ellen (Dave) Anderson of Coon Rapids, MN; his step-children, Ellen & Paul Nieken of Hillman, Dianne Holmquist of Onamia, MN, Rene & Chris Athman of Onamia, MN, Vicki & Lester Nieken of Deerwood, MN, Bonnie Mae & Jim Miers of Stanchfield, MN, Lucy & Dr. Dennis Jacobson of Glencoe, MN, Jean & George Esbenson of Eden Prairie, MN, Mike & Tracy Henry of Alliance, OH, and Jeff Henry of Las Vegas, NV; 15 grandchildren; 26 step grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 30 step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Claude Faust of Arizona, Magnus (Shirley) Faust of Andover, MN, Pat (JoAnn) Faust of Milaca, MN; sisters, Mary Hatcher, Sauk Rapids, MN Nettie (Mel) Buessler of Hillman, MN. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph & Christine Faust; stepson, Donald Henry Jr.; 3 brothers-in-law; grandchildren, Tanya Faust, and Troy Faust. Casketbearers will be Dean Sherwood, Elliot Faust, Mitchell Faust, Nathan Faust, Nicholas Faust, Christopher Faust, Connor Sullivan, and Justin Klipstein.
