Kim Hansen

Kim Hansen, 57 year old resident of Little Falls, MN passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer on May 12, 2011 at St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls, MN. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at First Lutheran Church in Little Falls, MN with Rev. David Sperstad officiating. Friends may call from 9-11 A.M. on Saturday at First Lutheran Church in Little Falls, MN. Funeral arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Kim was born on July 3, 1953 in Minneapolis, MN to Irving and the late Jeanne (Sutton) Almen. She attended and graduated high school from St. Anthony Village High School with the class of 1971. Kim was united in marriage to Phillip Hansen on February 18, 1984 at First Lutheran Church in Little Falls, MN. Kim began working at the Morrison County Record in 1989 and had worked there for 22 years as a sales representative and later became the sales manager. Kim gave her time generously to the community, volunteering and serving on various committees and boards. Some of her involvements include co-chair of the Little Falls Dam Festival and prior to that Riverfest; organizer of the Christmas Celebration business promotion, assistant president of Ducks Unlimited. In 2010 Kim was named Grand Marshal of the Dam Festival Parade by the Dam Festival Committee for her volunteer efforts in the community. She also organized many golf outings for various organizations that she felt strongly about, like FAB (Flyer Athletic Booster), Little Falls Country Club, and Relay For Life. Kim also enjoyed the arts, she was a member of the Great River Arts Association, participated in plays that the Hole-in-the-Day Players put on, and she sang in the First Lutheran Church Choir. She not only gave her time and talents to the community of Little Falls, but she helped other surrounding communities in Morrison County with projects. While Kim loved her community she also enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends especially her two grandchildren Colin and Chase. She loved the true beauty of the Mississippi River, and enjoyed countless days on her pontoon and at Turtle Island with Phil and her numerous friends. Kim also participated in the women’s golf league for many years. She and Phil took several camping trips to We Fest and Moondance Jam music festivals. Kim was known and took great pride in growing her beautiful raspberry patches and baking her famous banana bread. Many people knew and will forever remember her singing of the song “Mustang Sally”; but she also loved the music from Chicago and Journey. Kim was well known and loved much by many people in the community and will be dearly missed by so many family and friends. Kim is survived by husband, Phillip Hansen of Little Falls, MN; son, Christopher (Steph) Rathmanner of Inver Grove Heights, MN; father, Irving Almen of Comstock, WI; brothers, Jeff (Robin) Almen of Herndon, VA, and Kerry (Debbie) Almen of Ham Lake, MN; sister, Mary Beth Rathmanner of St. Joseph, MN; brother-in-law, Tim (Athista) Hansen of Montebello, CA; sister-in-law, Laura Hansen & friend Ken Anderson of Little Falls, MN; grandchildren, Colin & Chase Rathmanner; nieces and nephews, Ben Almen, Kate Almen, Katrina Almen, Ben Hansen, Joel Hansen, and Josiah Hansen. Kim is preceded in death by mother, Jeanne Almen; infant brother, Christopher Almen; and in-laws, Milo & Caroline Hansen.
