Leslie "Les" O. Wessels

Leslie "Les" O. Wessels, 90-year-old resident of Little Falls, MN passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls. MN. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Grace Covenant Church in Little Falls with Rev. Keith Bergstrom officiating. A private burial will take place at Springbrook Cemetery in Swanville, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Caring for Leslie and his family is the LeMieur Funeral Homes of Little Falls, MN. Leslie Odell Wessels was born on July 10, 1934, to the late Fred and Gertrude (Henrichs) Wessels in Ellsworth, Minnesota. Les attended country school and Ellsworth High School. Les enlisted in the U. S. Army and proudly served his country from 1955-1958. He served 30 months as an M.P. in France. After his honorable discharge, he married Dorothy Bruns on March 4, 1959. He was last employed by the MN Department of Transportation, where he worked for 20 years. Les and his wife Dorothy enjoyed traveling, taking many trips throughout the country. He loved spending time outdoors. Les was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved gardening and looked forward every spring to getting his garden started. He also loved spending time with his family: his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Les was a member of Grace Covenant Church, having spent many years there as an usher. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dorothy of 65 years; children, Debbie (Gene) Harthan, Dean (Julie) Wessels, Doreen (Doug) Smith; son-in-law, Dan Jennings; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jon) Lake, Janelle (Matt) Theisen, Jayna (Derek) Harthan, Keegan Wessels, Mack Wessels, DeAndra Smith, D.J. Smith, Shanda Jennings; great-grandchildren, Ryan Theisen, Reid Theisen, Emma Lake, Zachary Strom, Maverick Smith; brothers, Dwayne (Barb) Wessels, Larry (Sue) Wessels; sister, Diane (Lonnie) Boltjes; brothers-in-law; Doug (Janet) Bruns, Arthur Bruns, Leland (Brenda) Bruns; sister-in-law, Ruth Elhami. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Darla Jennings; brothers, Gene (Sadie) Wessels, Ivan (Sonja) Wessels; sister, Margaret (George) Spieker and brother-in-law, Farid Elhami.
