Lydia Hoheisel

Lydia Hoheisel, 85 year old resident of Pierz, MN passed away Monday, May 2, 2016 at her home in Pierz, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, May 6, 2016 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz, MN with Father Ken Popp officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Joseph's Parish Cemetery in Pierz, MN. A visitation will be held from 4-8 P.M. on Thursday and from 9:30-10:30 A.M. on Friday at the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz, MN. The Christian Mothers will pray a rosary at 4:30 P.M. followed by Parish Prayers at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday at the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz, MN. Arrangements are with the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz, MN. Lydia was born on March 31, 1931 in Granite Township to the late John and Theresia (Schmidtbauer) Tretter. She attended school district #134 until the 8th eighth grade and later took her GED and graduated with her son Dennis in 1973. Lydia was united in marriage to Marvin Hoheisel in 1949 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Lastrup, MN. The couple farmed near Center Valley and worked at Crestliner Boats in Little Falls while raising their eight children. Together they owned and operated the Red Rooster Bar in Genola from 1975 until 1982. Lydia was a founding member of the Genola Athletic Park. She sponsored many parades and ball tournaments to raise funds for the park. Lydia sponsored many sports teams throughout the years. In 1982 her husband Marvin passed away and she later moved to Pierz Fish Lake. At age 70 she opened the Meadowlark Combo Hall where she served hundreds of meals. Lydia was a member of the St. Joseph’s Christian Mothers, Pierz Legion Auxiliary, and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz, MN. She enjoyed her family and had special memories with each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lydia was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by many. Lydia is survived by sons, Roger “Hulio” Hoheisel of Pierz, MN, Kenny (Diane) Hoheisel of Pierz, MN, Dennis (Linda) Hoheisel of Pierz, MN and Marvin (Connie) Hoheisel of Pierz, MN; daughters, Deb ( Donnie) Gall of Pierz, MN, Rosie (Dick) Talberg of Pierz, MN and Julie (Art) Leikvoll of Little Falls, MN; brother, Robert (Dellie) Tretter of Aurora, MN; sister, Theresia Becker of Pierz, MN; 23 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Lydia was preceded in death by her parents, John and Theresia Tretter; husband, Marvin Hoheisel; son, Tom Hoheisel; grandson, Roy Gall; infant granddaughter, Robin Hoheisel; brothers, Edwin Tretter, Reinhardt Tretter, and Phillip Tretter; sisters, Regina Hoffman, Leona Tretter, Hildegard Block, Marie Hoffman, Gertie Medek, and Lucy Becker.
