Marcellus "Marc" Pelzer

Marcellus "Marc" Pelzer 82 year old resident of Fort Ripley, MN passed away Friday, February 13, 2015 at his home in Fort Ripley, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Belle Prairie, MN with Father Joe Herzing officiating. Burial will take place in the Holy Family Parish Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4-8 P.M on Wednesday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN and from 10-11 A.M. on Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church. Parish Prayers will be held at 7:45 P.M. on Wednesday evening at the Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Marc was born on January 4, 1933 in Maine Prairie Township in Stearns County, the son of Fred and Marie Pelzer. He was one of eleven children. On July 16, 1953 he was united in marriage to Lois Barthel the love of his life at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Swanville, MN. After living in several towns in central Minnesota the couple settled in the Fort Ripley area in 1965. It was then that he established the Little Falls Furniture and Carpet Co. Marc owned and operated the store for 24 years retiring in 1989. After retirement he pursued his passion of collecting and selling antique John Deere tractors. This adventure gave Marc and Lois the opportunity to travel all over the United States. Besides his tractor collecting Marc enjoyed 35 years of elk and deer hunting in several western states as well as Canada. He would pack into the mountains with his mules, in the company of some of his siblings and sons. Marc also enjoyed sports, especially the Minnesota Twins and Vikings, and never missed watching a game. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and always had a joke or story to tell. His quick wit would always put a smile on people’s faces. Marc was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by many. Marc is survived by loving wife of 61 years Lois Pelzer of Fort Ripley, MN; children, Alan (Judy) Pelzer of Brainerd, MN, Mark (Shelia) Pelzer of Little Falls, MN, Michelle (Claude) Sand of Bemidji, MN, and Karla (Tim) O’ Donnell of Duluth, MN; 14 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Doug (Rita) Pelzer of Brainerd, MN, Fred (Esther) Pelzer of Little Falls, MN, Dan (Eileen) Pelzer of Flensburg, and Lorraine (Jim) Bobick-Schneider of St. Cloud, MN. Marc was preceded in death by parents, Fred and Marie Pelzer; brothers, Lawrence, Joe and Hermie; sisters, Pauline, Bernadette and Leona; and son-in-law, Michael Miner.
