Martha M. Hoheisel

Martha Hoheisel, 93 year old resident of Pierz, MN, passed away Saturday, August 21, 2010 at the Pierz Villa in Pierz, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz, with Father Gerald Dalseth officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Joseph’s Parish Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. on Tuesday and from 9-10 A.M. on Wednesday at the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz, MN. Christian Mothers Rosary will be at 4:30 P.M. and Parish Prayers at 7 P.M. on Tuesday at the Funeral Chapel. Arrangements are with the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz, MN. Martha was born on December 21, 1916 in Casselton, ND to the late Frank and Ernestine Heinz. She grew up in North Dakota and survived Polio as a young child. Martha was united in marriage to Leo P. Hoheisel on June 28, 1939 in Jesse, ND. The couple relocated to Pierz, MN in 1939 to own and operate the Sinclair Gas Station in Pierz, MN. Martha and Leo operated the gas station until they retired in 1983. For 23 years Martha cleaned the Farmers and Merchants State Bank in Pierz, MN. She loved to sing to her children and was an excellent cook and baker. Martha enjoyed playing cards as well as Bingo as a pastime. She had a wonderful gift of visiting and conversing with family and friends. Martha was also very dedicated to journaling, scrapbooking, and documenting the daily activities of Central Minnesota. She had a passion for going on trips both near and far. Most of all Martha loved spending time and being involved in her children and grandchildren’s life's. She was a long time member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz, MN and a member of the St. Joseph’s Christian Mothers. Martha was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by many. Martha is survived by sons, Pete (Debby) Hoheisel of Pierz, MN, Joe Hoheisel of Pierz, MN, and Jack (Lori) Hoheisel of Pierz, MN; daughters, Janice (Tony) Kahlhamer of Pierz, MN, Beverly (Dennis) Kelzenberg of St. Cloud, MN, Patricia (Dennis) Seelen of Pierz, MN, and Carol (Tom) Wiley of Elk River, MN; daughter-in-law, Burnie Poxleitner of Pierz, MN; siblings, Frank (Arlene) Heinz, Dorothy Becherl and Mary Helen Ressler all of Cooperstown, ND; 20 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Martha was preceded in death by husband, Leo Hoheisel on Jan. 28, 1985; parents, Frank & Ernestine Heinz; son, Roger Hoheisel; great-grandson, Alex Falck; brother, Richard Heinz; and sister, Elsie Fieberger.
