Michael Loso

Amikogaabaw, Michael Loso, 40 passed away on April 15, 2025. A visitation will begin at 7 PM on Friday, April 18, 2025, at the District 1 Community Center on the Mille Lacs Reservation. The Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the District 1 Community Center on the Mille Lacs Reservation with Anton Treuer officiating. Interment will be in the Vineland Burial Grounds. Arrangements are with the LeMieur Funeral Home in Onamia, MN. Amikogaabaw, Michael was born on May 7, 1984, in Fridley, MN, to Alberta Murphy and the late Thomas Loso Jr. He was raised in Coon Rapids, MN, and graduated from Champlin Park High School in 2002. Michael went on to earn his associate degree from Central Lakes College and later completed his Bachelor of Arts at Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, MN. Michael worked as a maintenance technician for the Mille Lacs Band Housing Department, where he took great pride in serving his community. He had a deep connection to the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, golfing, and boating with friends and family. A proud Native American, Michael honored his heritage by actively participating in cultural events, drumming, and studying his native language. Michael was an active member of the Midewin Lodge as a 1st Degree Member. He was especially passionate about sharing his culture with his children, teaching them traditions and values with patience, pride, and joy. Michael’s love for his family, his culture, and his community was evident in everything he did. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, his gift of visiting, his laughter, and the deep care he showed to those around him. Survived by, mother, Alberta Loso of Shoreview, MN; brother, Stephen Loso of Shoreview, MN; fiancé, Heather Benjamin of Onamia, MN; children, Kylie Loso of Bemidji, MN, Ziigwan Loso of Minneapolis, MN, Michael Loso Jr. of Onamia, MN, Thomas Loso II of Onamia, MN and Nyah Benjamin of Onamia, MN; aunts, Lisa Murphy of Baxter, MN, Dawn Murphy of Baxter, MN, Colleen (Gary) Minger of Minneapolis, MN, Michelle (Donald) Traczyk of Fridley, MN, Paul (Linda) Loso of North Carolina, Chris (Renee) Loso of St. Joseph, MN; and many cousins. Preceded in death in father, Thomas Loso; grandparents, Albert Murphy, Hazel Dorr, Thomas Loso Sr., and Jane Loso; aunt, Laura (Jeff) Hanson.
