Michael "Mike" Mohler

Michael L. Mohler, 74-year-old resident of Little Falls, MN passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Monday, October 21, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls with Father Ben Kociemba and Father Joseph Herzing officiating. Burial will take place at the Minnesota State Cemetery north of Little Falls. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 P.M. on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls and 9 to 11 A.M. on Monday at the church. Military Rites will be conducted by the Minnesota State Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Wreaths for the Fallen. Caring for Mike and his family is the LeMieur Funeral Home in Little Falls, MN. Mike “Mick” was born, in Little Falls, MN on January 5, 1950 to the late Eugene and Evangeline (Blochowiak) Mohler. In 1968, Mike graduated from Edison High School in Minneapolis, MN. After graduating, he enlisted in the US Navy. He served in the Vietnam War as an aircraft mechanic. After leaving the service he worked as a carpenter in Minneapolis but grew tired of the city life, so he moved Little Falls. Most of his working years were spent at Hennepin Paper Company in Little Falls until it closed. He married the love of his life, Marge “Margie” Smieja on June 17, 1977, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Mike became an immediate dad to Marge’s kids Doug and Lisa. They welcomed their twins, Tracy and Tressa, on his 29th birthday, January 5, 1979. The girls always joked that they were his best birthday present. It was fun over the years having his girls as his birthday buddies. Then, on November 7, 1980, they welcomed their son, Micah. Of course, Micah was born during deer hunting season. Mike was proud of his family and was called Grandpa Mo by his 13 grandchildren he loved dearly, Ashley, Kaytlin, Pacey, Nancy, Owen, Hunter, Mackenzie, Billy, Chloe, Lucie, Grant, Maggie and Adrienne. Most recently he welcomed his great-granddaughter, Ariah. Mike enjoyed spending most of his free time outdoors either fishing or hunting. He was a great teacher and mentor to all his children and grandchildren. One of his biggest legacies was being a great fisherman and he was well-known on Lake Shamineau. He was also a talented artist, painting nature scenes, clowns and portraits. Left to cherish his loving memory is his wife, Margie; sons, Doug (Julie) Nething and Micah (Brea) Mohler; daughters, Lisa (Steve) Murnane, Tracy (Ryan) Johnson, Tressa (Jesse) Geschwill; grandchildren, Ashley, Kaytlin, Pacey, Nancy, Owen, Hunter, Mackenzie, Billy, Chloe, Lucie, Grant, Maggie and Adrienne; great-granddaughter, Ariah; brothers, Chuck (Kathy) Mohler, Shawn (Ann) Mohler and sisters, Roxi Johnson and Sheryl (Charles) Williams. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Evangeline Mohler; brother, Kelly Mohler; grandparents; in-laws Adolph and Delphine Smieja; brother-in-law, James Smieja and his cancer buddy, sister-in-law, Judi Smieja.
