Michael "Mick" J. Plante

Michael “Mick” James Plante, age 57, of Rural Little Falls, MN, passed away from cancer, Saturday, August 2, 2008 at his residence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Belle Prairie, MN with Father Nicholas Landsberger officiating. Burial will be at the Holy Family Parish Cemetery in Belle Prairie, MN. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday, August 5th at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls and from 10 to 11 AM on Wednesday at the church. Michael “Mick” James Plante was born on October 14, 1950 in Little Falls, Minnesota to the late Henry & Agatha “Pat” (Perlinger) Plante. He grew up in Belle Prairie where he attended elementary school, then graduated from Little Falls Community High School in 1968. He was united in marriage to Sandra Kris on May 3, 1969 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Little Falls. He raised turkeys in Swanville for 7 years, and then moved to Little Falls where he was a partner in K & P Trucking. He then went to work at Crestliner for 20+ years. After retiring due to his health, he enjoyed his time at home gardening, bird watching, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed woodworking, fishing and hunting. For many years he played Victory League baseball for Belle Prairie and was on many softball leagues. After living a full life, he leaves behind his wife of 39 years and best friend, Sandy; his wonderful children Richelle Evans of Otsego, MN, Shayla Strack and husband, Charles of Little Falls, MN, Chad Plante and wife, Amy of Elk River, MN, and eight beautiful grandchildren, Eric, Alissa, Tyler, Brett, Logan, Caleb, Shelbi, and Isabella; brothers, Gerard Plante and wife, Donna of Milwaukie, OR and Dennis Plante and wife, Dianne of Vancouver, WA; sisters, Carole Booth of Vancouver, WA, Gayle Diehl of Hutchinson, MN, Sandy Brewer and husband, John of Tigard, OR, Jeanne Plant and husband, Bob McNealy of Ashland, OR and Sheri Ruble and husband, Gary of Gresham, OR. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mick’s grandchildren. Active Pallbearers will be Tyler Evans, Eric Strack, Dennis Gwost, Chris Gwost, Gary Ruble and Doug Dickmann.
