Morris L. Nelson

Morris L. Nelson, 82 year old resident of Darling Township, Morrison County, MN passed away Monday, April 1, 2024 at his residence. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April, 9, 2024, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Little Falls, MN with Rev. Kari Pancoast officiating. Burial will be at the Darling Cemetery NW of Little Falls. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 AM on Tuesday at the church. Memorials are preferred to Bethel Lutheran Church. Caring for Morris and his family is the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Morris was born on February 20, 1942 in Little Falls, attended District 35 (one-room school house) in Darling Township for eight grades and graduated from high school in Little Falls (Class of 1960). He was a lifelong resident of the Randall area. Morris worked in road construction for most of his life as a heavy equipment operator, superintendent with C.L. Nelson and Company., and later with Anderson Brothers Construction Company, Brainerd, MN, as well as being involved with Northern Sand and Gravel Company, Trail, MN. Following road construction, he worked as a dam operator (hydroelectric generation) for Minnesota Power Company at Little Falls and Blanchard Dams. Following his retirement, he served on the Board of Directors for Consolidated Telecommunications Company (CTC) for nearly 20 years until his death. As a child, Morris attended Immanuel Lutheran Church in Darling, as an adult he was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church and participated in the construction of the new building in 2002. For several years he was a board member of the Darling Lutheran Cemetery Association and belonged to the Masonic Lodge, Randall Sportsman Club, and Minnesota Steam Engine Association. Morris enjoyed hunting, ice fishing, and visiting with many friends. Morris is survived by his siblings, Gordon (Danh) Nelson of Savage, MN and Janet (Jim) Bricher of St. Paul, MN; nephews, Eldon (Andrea) and Garrick Nelson, Joseph and Thomas Bricher, grand-nephew and grand-niece, Aiden and Olivia Nelson, as well as his cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gale and Ella Nelson.
