Paul Diebel

Paul Diebel, 67 year old resident of Little Falls, MN passed away Monday, March 11, 2024 at his home. A visitation will be held from 4-8 P.M. on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Caring for Paul and his family is the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Paul Edward Diebel arrived on October 26, 1956 to the late Dwight and Bernice (Gmeiner) in Long Prairie, MN. He left us on the morning of March 11, 2024 at his home in Little Falls, MN. Paul was the fourth of ten children. At the age of six years old, the family relocated to Little Falls, MN. Paul grew up in Little Falls and graduated from Little Falls High School and then attended Brainerd Technical College. He was united in marriage to Becky Benson on October 28, 1977. To this union, they were blessed with two children, Joy and Bryan. Then four grandchildren followed, William and Wyatt Opatz and Layne & LeNora Diebel and one more little Diebel due later this summer. Paul worked for Art's Super Value, bartended at Frenchie & Anne's, and also worked for the Fina Station as manager, Super America, Hilmerson RV and retired from Little Falls Auto Value. He was also a Volunteer Firefighter for many years. Through his work, he became good friends with many during his career. This was very evident during his final days, all that called or dropped in to visit and reminisce. Many stories were shared of Paul's antics whether snowmobiling, fishing, camping or traveling. Though he loved his work and had many friends, Paul was proudest of his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Paul is survived by wife, Becky Diebel; daughter, Joy (Steve) Opatz; son, Bryan (Lori) Diebel; grandchildren, Will Opatz, Wyatt Opatz, and LeNora Diebel; siblings, Roger (Patrice) Diebel, Jan (Curt) Martinson, Charlie (Jill) Diebel, Pat (Mark) Inabnett, Sande Forster, Mary Peine, Wayne Diebel, and Diane (Rob) Ratke; brothers and sister-in-law, Kathy (Rick) Wiersgalla, David (Sheila) Benson, Jim (Patty White) Benson and Jerry Benson Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dwight & Bernice Diebel; in-laws, Jerry & Collette Benson; grandson, Layne Paul Diebel and brother, Doug Diebel.
