Paul Gangl, 92 year old resident of Pierz, MN passed away Sunday, August 12, 2007 at the Pierz Villa in Pierz, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 10:30 A.M at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz, MN with Father Gerald Dalseth officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Parish Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. on Monday at the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz, MN and from 9 to 10 A.M on Tuesday at the Funeral Chapel. St. Michael's Society will pray a rosary at 4:30 P.M. on Monday & Parish Prayers will be prayed at 7:30 P.M. Arrangements are with the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz, MN. Paul Martin Gangl was born November 10, 1914 in St. Paul, MN to the late Frank & Theresa (Kolhenberger) Gangl. Paul attended school until the 8th grade. Despite his 8th grade education Paul was a self taught man of many, many different trades. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Gruber on August 17, 1940 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Buckman, MN. The couple started their lives together farming in Bowlus, MN for 3 years. Then they moved 3 miles south of Buckman, MN & farmed there for 25 years. While Paul was farming he also worked as a carpenter, lineman, barber, was on the Creamery Board in Little Rock, & served on the School Board for the Dixville School District. After moving to Pierz in 1969 he & his wife Evelyn started making quilts for many people all around the United States and in some other countries. He enjoyed cutting the fabric, and sewing it together, but most of all loved the company that would always be stopping by. In Paul's free time he enjoyed fishing, playing cards, & the company of friends & family. Paul is survived by son, Eddie Gangl & wife Carolyn of Pierz, MN; daughter, Judy Ringeisen & husband, Steven of St. Cloud, MN; brothers, Steve Gangl of Royalton, MN, Joseph Gangl of Pierz, MN; sisters, Catherine Brixius of Pierz, MN, Agnes Medek of Pierz, MN; Six Grandchildren, & 10 Great Grandchildren. Preceded in death by wife, Evelyn (Gruber) Gangl; parents, Frank & Theresa (Kolhenberger) Gangl; son, Gordon Gangl; 4 brothers & 3 sisters. Casketbearers will be Paul’s Grandchildren.
