Raymond Meyer

Raymond Meyer, 80 year old resident of Pierz, MN passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, October 26, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz, MN with Father Ken Popp officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Joseph Parish Cemetery in Pierz, MN. A visitation will be held from 4-8 P.M. on Sunday and from 9-10 A.M. on Monday at the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz, MN. Parish prayers will be held at 6:30 P.M. on Sunday evening at the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz, MN. Funeral arrangements are with the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz, MN. Raymond was born on June 15, 1935 in Agram Township, Morrison County to the late Nicholas and Loretta (Faust) Meyer. He was united in marriage to Judith Hendrickson on June 12, 1958 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Little Falls, MN. In 1958 Raymond served his country by enlisting into the U.S Army and was later honorably discharged. Raymond worked as a carpenter by trade for many years, but also loved helping others with farm work. He was a very talented carpenter that could build anything from a home, to toys, to beautiful furniture for inside the home. Ray was a very simple man, that loved the simple things in life. He thoroughly enjoyed listening to old time music. Ray faithfully listened to Mollie B every week and would attend local performances so he could hear the old music he so loved. He also could found tending to his vegetable & flower gardens and every year taking in the Pioneer Days in Albany, MN. Ray also found joy in spending time with his children and visiting with his buddies at the Red Rooster Bar in Genola, MN. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren had a special place in his heart. Ray was greatly loved and will be dearly missed. Ray is survived by children, Diana (Jim) Kalis of Little Falls, MN, Ken (Deb) Meyer of Little Falls, MN and Mark (Lorraine) Meyer of Pierz, MN; brother, Jerome (Kathy) Meyer of Pierz, MN; sisters, Doris (Victor) Langer of Pierz, MN, Irene Pfaff of Princeton, MN, Leona (Henry) Stockert of St. Mathias, MN and Marlene (Charlie) Ruegemer of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Misty Meyer, Jory Meyer, Caleb Meyer, Alicia Aura, Justin Kalis, Kyle Kalis, Logan Kalis, and Jacob Meyer; and great-grandchildren, Aleah Burgardt, Jadon Burgardt, Landon Burgardt, Brody Meyer, Izaak Kalis, Katelyn Kalis, Skylar Meyer, and Ava Meyer. Ray was preceded in death by, parents, Nicholas and Loretta Meyer; son, Daniel Meyer; brothers, Mel and Clarence Meyer; and brothers-in-law, Bernard Pfaff and Virgil Ruegemer.
