Regina E. Kalis

Regina E. Kalis, 97 year old resident of Little Falls, MN, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Harmony House in Little Falls, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, September 5th at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls. Father Jeremy Ploof will officiate and burial will be at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Royalton, MN. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday, September 4th at Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls and from 10:30 to 11:30 AM on Friday at the church. Christian Mothers will pray the Rosary at 5:30 PM and Parish Prayer Service at 6:30 PM on Thursday. Regina Elizabeth Trutwin was born on July 3, 1917 in North Prairie, MN to the late Frank and Victoria (Stodolka) Trutwin. She grew up on the family farm in North Prairie and then in the late 1930’s she moved to St. Cloud to work at the St. Cloud Reformatory at the warden’s residence. Regina was united in marriage to John Richard Kalis on November 27, 1945 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in North Prairie. They moved to the Kalis family farm near Royalton, MN. In 1955, they moved to Little Falls, where they raised their family. Regina was a hard worker throughout her life, and she retired from the Sanitary Bakery in 1982. In her spare time, Regina enjoyed gardening and taking care of her lawn. She looked forward to family gatherings and was known as an excellent cook and baker (especially with her poppyseed coffee cake and chocolate chip cookies). Regina was a loving grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was faithful in her religion, and was a member of the Christian Mothers, Daughters of Isabella, and the Little Falls V.F.W. Post 1112 Ladies Auxiliary. Regina will be dearly missed by her son, Raymond (Linda) Kalis of Royalton; daughter, Mary Mae Wilhelm of St. Cloud, MN; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; brothers, Mike, Leo, Pete, and Roman Trutwin; sisters, Annie Sobieck and Sr. Mary Jeremia Trutwin, O.S.F.; son-in-laws, George Hanson and Robert Wilhelm; and great granddaughter, Kelsey Robinson. Casketbearers will be Robert Hanson, Steven Hanson, Rick Kalis, Randy Kalis, Dennis Wolbeck, Kenneth Wittmann, and Darrell Gaffke. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Horizon Health Home Care and Hospice along with Harmony House in Little Falls, MN.
