Rita Koetter, 72 year old resident of Pierz, MN passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz, MN with Father Ken Popp officiating. Burial will take place in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls, MN. A visitation will be held from 4-8 P.M. on Monday and from 9-10 A.M. on Tuesday at the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz, MN. A Christian Mother’s rosary will be prayed at 4:30 P.M. on Monday followed by Parish Prayers at 7:00 P.M. Funeral arrangements are with the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz, MN. Rita was born on September 22, 1942 in Buh Township, Morrison County to the late Raymond and Marie (Tretter) Hoffman. She attended school at St. Joseph’s Elementary School and graduated from Fr. Pierz Memorial High School. Rita was united in marriage to Gerald Koetter on April 28, 1979 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz, MN. She worked various jobs through out her life which include Fingerhut, Redwood Industries, Franklin, Morrison County Record, and Pierz Villa which she retired from several years ago. Rita was a very active person, always on the go, living life to the fullest. She enjoyed, playing Bingo, going to the casino, playing cards, and going fishing. Rita also had a green thumb tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. Her grandchildren were her true joy spending time with them and teaching them how to play Go Fish. Rita will forever be remembered for always having a wonderful meal prepared at the last minute. She was member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pierz, MN, Christian Mother’s, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Rita is survived by son, Alan (Sandy) Koetter of Alexandria, MN; daughters, Judy (Jason) Hudalla of Little Falls, MN and Janice (John) Poegel of Swanville, MN; brother, Lloyd (Sharon) Hoffman of Pierz, MN; and grandchildren, Daniel Poegel, Kaitlin Hudalla, Hunter Hudalla, Alexander Koetter, and Joseph Koetter. Rita was preceded in death by husband, Gerald Koetter (2013) and parents, Raymond and Marie Hoffman.
