Rita A. Reis

Rita A. Reis, age 81, of Little Falls, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at her residence in Little Falls, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday (March 25) at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN with Father Nicholas Landsberger officiating. Burial will be at the Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery in Little Falls, MN. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. on Monday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN and from 9 to 10 A.M on Tuesday at the funeral home. The American Legion Auxiliary of Bowlus will pray the rosary at 4:30 P.M. on Monday and Parish Prayers will be at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Rita Ann (Otremba) Reis was born September 29, 1926 in Pierz, MN to the late Joseph and Marion (Lintner) Otremba of Little Falls, MN. She was united in marriage to Donald S. Reis, Sr. on June 23, 1947 at Sacred Heart Church in Little Falls. The couple owned Reis Lumber and Reis Bar in Bowlus, and Shady Inn on Lake Alex. Rita enjoyed spending time with her family. She enjoyed babysitting and overnighters with her grandchildren and especially visiting with her great grandchildren. She enjoyed shopping, especially for high heels. Some of Rita’s hobbies included yard work, gardening and flowers, and sewing patches for her family. She also loved traveling with Donnie, visiting family and friends, and playing cards and dominos. She loved her faith and taught CCD ( Confraternity of Christian Doctrine) for 9 years at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bowlus. Rita was a member of the Bowlus American Legion Auxiliary and past Officer of Bowlus Disabled Veterans Auxiliary. Rita A. Reis is survived by sons, David (Janet) Reis, Michael (Diane) Reis, Dennis (Louise) Reis, all of Bowlus, MN, Donald Jr. (Carol) Reis of St. Michael, MN, Ward (MaryAnne) Reis of Brooklyn Park, MN, Paul (Tammy) Reis of Avon, MN, and Joseph (Jessica) Reis of Little Falls, MN; daughters, Patricia (Clarence) Psyck of Bowlus, MN, Donna (Alvin) Kalis of Sobieski, MN, and Mary Knaack of Little Falls, MN; brothers, Urban (Carole) Otremba of Little Falls, MN, Joseph (Anita) Otremba of Bowlus, MN, Allan (Sheryl) Otremba of Grand Forks, ND; sisters, JoAnn Kroll of Richfield, MN and Marcelline Paycer of Little Falls, MN; sister-in-laws, Barbara Otremba of Little Falls, and Kathy Otremba of Roseville, CA; 30 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. Rita A. Reis was preceded in death by her parents; husband Donald Reis in 1994, granddaughter Cagney, and brothers Lawrence, Clement, Marcellus, and Romeus. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Rita’s grandchildren and great grandchildren. Active Pallbearers will be grandsons, Glenn Psyck, Tony Reis, Nicholas Knaack, Patrick Kalis, Robert Reis, Wesley Reis, Kristopher Reis, and Joseph Reis Jr.
