Rita A. Winscher

Rita Agnes Winscher was born in Buh Township on February 24, 1926 to the late Vincent and Gertrude Waytashek. She attended the local Country School. Rita worked in the twin cities area prior to being united in marriage to Sidney Winscher on October 24, 1944 in Pierz, MN. The couple made their home on a farm they purchased near Morrill, MN where they raised their eight children. They farmed until their retirement in 1980 at which time they purchased a home on 5 acres near Buckman, MN. They later moved to Pierz, MN. She was game to try anything that was fun. She enjoyed the annual week long Lake Edward vacation with her family so much that it became a family tradition for over 14 years. She worked hard on the farm and raised a wonderful family. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, fishing, gardening and any time spent with family. Time spent with her grandchildren always made her day. After retirement, she did many things for the first time such as oil painting, ceramics, pitching horse shoe on a league, crocheting (she crocheted an entire bedspread for each of her daughters & many table doilies, etc.), downhill skiing, riding on a tube behind a speed boat and learning how to ride a horse. She went on trail rides and even carried a flag in the parades for the saddle club. She always put 100% into whatever she did. She was a wonderful cook & she welcomed anyone into her house for a good home cooked meal at any time of day. Her meals & treats were so good, they will be cherished memories for all of her family & friends. She was proud of the fact that she was married to Sidney for over 68 years. Rita is survived by her children, Shirley (Steve) Krause of Tucson, AZ, Gary Winscher of Pierz, Sally (Robert) Kieffer of Hillman, Allan Winscher of Sartell, Marvin (Bev) Winscher of Rice, and Marilyn (Wayne) Burggraff of Pierz & Daugher-in-law, Alice Winscher of Royalton & Brother Jim (Jan) Waytashek & many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers are Rita’s grandchildren, Derek Burggraff, Eric Winscher, Nick Winscher, Karla Popp, Krystal Delaney, Tracy Winscher, Kim Olson & Mark Winscher. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim & Jan Waytashek, Marie Meyer, Bertha Jedlicki, Lucy Kelzenberg, June Magle & Harriet Juetten. Rita was preceded in death by her husband Sidney, parents, Vincent & Gertrude Waytashek, daughter Joyce Winscher, son Darrell Winscher, Grandson James Winscher and brothers, Jerome, Vernon, Melvin, Donald & Vincent (Jr.) Waytashek. Sisters, Luella Boser & Mary Jane Seelen. Rita will be in our hearts forever, may she rest in peace.
