Ronald K. Girtz

Ronald K. Girtz, 50-year-old resident of Hillman, MN, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018 in Ankeny, IA as a result of an Automobile accident. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at St. Rita's Catholic Church in Hillman, MN with Father Greg Poser officiating. Burial will take place at the St. Rita's Parish Cemetery in Hillman, MN. A visitation will be held from 4-8 P.M. on Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday all at St. Rita’s Catholic Church. Ronnie was born on January 2, 1968, in Little Falls, MN to Edward Girtz and Jeanette Tretter. He attended elementary and high school in Little Falls. After high school, Ronnie married Jill Hoheisel and they made their home in Colorado, where he started RG’s Firewood, later he moved back to Minnesota where he started RG’s Tree Service, working at that profession for the remainder of his adult life. Ronnie particularly enjoyed taking part in truck pulls, mud runs, and loved watching demolition derbies. He took pride in his chopper motorcycle, he loved riding. He very much enjoyed his children and, most recently, he loved taking his two young grandsons camping and fishing. They were his pride and joy. Ronnie will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but his legacy will RIDE on. Ronnie is survived by his children, Brittnie Girtz (Casey Talberg) of Hillman, MN, Erica Girtz (Derick Dudley) of Lastrup MN, Ronnie Girtz, Jr. of Royalton, MN, Amber Girtz and Preston Girtz of Little Falls, MN; stepson, Kyle Herold of Pierz, MN; grandchildren, Derick Dudley Jr. and Bentley Girtz; father, Edward Girtz and stepmother, Rosanne Girtz of Hillman, MN, his mother, Jeanette Wuellner and stepfather, Johnny Wuellner of Little Falls, MN; sisters, Carol Dettera of Foley, MN, Janice (Kevin) Stiller of Rice, MN, and Brenda (Steve) Coult of Ramsey, MN, Joanie (John) Sasker of Onamia, MN, Heidi (Brad) Sand of Little Falls, MN, Edward Girtz. Jr. of Hillman, MN, Amanda Girtz of Prior Lake, MN and many nieces and nephews. Ronnie was preceded in death by grandparents, Inez and Edward Girtz Sr. and Herb and Evelyn Tretter; cousin, Teena Tretter and infant, sister, Joyce Girtz.
