Rose M. Jelinski

Rose M. Jelinski, 81 year old resident of Pierz, MN passed away Monday, June 6, 2016 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN surrounded by her family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, June 10, 2016 at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church in Lastrup, MN. A visitation will be held from 4-8 P.M. on Thursday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Pierz, MN and from 10-11 A.M. on Friday at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church in Lastrup, MN. A parish prayer service will be held at 5:00 P.M. on Thursday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Pierz, MN. Funeral arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Pierz, MN. Rose Woitalla was born on February 3, 1935 in Pulaski Township, Morrison County. She was employed at Montgomery Ward in St. Paul, MN for several years, and later returned to the area. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Jelinski on June 5, 1956 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Harding, MN. Together the couple began farming near Freedhem, MN and raising their family. Rose and Lawrence worked side by side for many years on the farm. Rose was an extremely hard working woman who never gave up. In her free time she loved playing cards, fishing, traveling, dancing, and gardening. Rose was also an excellent baker and made delicious creations from scratch. Her family will always remember the caramel bars, cinnamon rolls, coffee cakes, pinwheel cookies, and apple pies she made especially for them. Whenever her children visited they could not leave without taking home a care package. Rose’s family was her top priority and she loved every minute she spent with them. Rose also loved feeding and watching the birds in her yard; and stray dogs seemed to seek her out knowing she would give them a loving forever home. She was a beautiful person on the inside as well as the outside. Rose was greatly loved and will be dearly missed. Rose is survived by sons, Larry (Lori) Jelinski of Eagan, MN, Danny Jelinski of Pierz, MN, Fred Jelinski of Pierz, MN, Tom Jelinski of Sartell, MN, and Jim (Debbie) Jelinski of Rosemount, MN; daughters, Carol Dahlke of Golden Valley, MN and Catie Jelinski of Chaska, MN; sister, Grace (LeRoy) Manlick of Little Falls, MN; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Rose was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lawrence Jelinski.
